Maxus PH Unveils Game-Changing 2021 G50 MPV with Prices Starting at P 1.088M (w/ Specs)

About a year since its brand introduction, Maxus has made in-roads in the Philippine automotive market with the introduction of its V80 and G10 passenger vans, and the T60 pickup truck. Now, with the introduction of its newest offering, the 2021 G50 MPV, Maxus has finally brought the right arsenal to hit the mainstream.

Despite the alphanumerical naming, the G50 actually slots below the G10 in terms of size and positioning. Yet, this five-door MPV carries with it an impressive array of features without compromising on its role as a family-oriented people mover.

Measuring in at 4,825 mm in length and boasting a 2,800 mm wheelbase, the G50 is longer in both respects compared to the Innova so passenger space across three rows shouldn’t be an issue. It has 8 seats (2+3+3) on all variants, with a second row that slides and reclines in a 60/40 split and a third row that folds flat in a 60/40 split.

Interior features include leather seats, a 12.3-inch touchscreen for the infotainment, wireless smartphone charging, power seats for the front occupants, and seatback trays for the second row. Outside, it has automatic LED headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, panoramic sunroof, and even a power tailgate.

There’s one single powertrain option across all G50 variants and that’s a 1.5-liter turbocharged direct-injected gasoline engine making a healthy 169 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. The sole transmission is a 7-speed dual clutch automatic (cruise control is available on the top-trip variant) powering the front wheels.

As for safety, the 2021 G50 comes standard with dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, stability control, rear parking sensors with camera, and a tire pressure monitoring system. The top-of-the-line Premium adds side impact airbags, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree panoramic view camera.

Here’s the real kicker. Despite the Maxus G50’s fully-loaded spec sheet, pricing is surprisingly affordable with the entry-level Maxus G50 1.5 Pro starting the range at P 1,088,000; the mid-grade Maxus G50 1.5 Elite going for P 1,168,000; and capping it all off is the Maxus G50 1.5 Premium at P 1,288,000.
