2021 Nissan Navara Said to Pack a Twin-Turbo Diesel Engine

The wait for the 2021 Navara’s global debut won’t be long if news sources from Thailand are right. First teased in the Nissan A to Z trailer, several outlets in the Kingdom say Nissan will be unveiling the refreshed pickup truck by the end of November.

Along with the supposed launch date, leaks have started to appear showing off our clearest look at how Nissan is refreshing its best-selling pickup truck. It looks like the 2021 Navara will gain a more upright front-end giving it a much more masculine stance. Changes were done to the headlights, grille, and bumper. On higher-trim models, the LED DRL will be split into two pieces, with LEDs also providing the main source of illumination. At the back, the Navara will gain new LED taillights and a tailgate garnish.

Even more interesting, the spied units all carry the “Frontier” badging. This could either signal the return of the Frontier nameplate or signify the Frontier as some sort of trim or variant.

According to Thai media reports, the 2021 Navara is also said to benefit from a new 2.3-liter twin-turbo diesel engine. This engine, shared with the Thai-market Terra makes 190 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque. Whether the Philippines will also get this new powertrain is up to anyone’s guess.

Are you excited for the 2021 Navara?

  1. That 2.3 twin turbo diesel has actually been available in other markets since 2014. However, the reason why PH didn't get the 2.3 but got the 2.5 is beacuse of fuel quality. Wherein the 2.3 is Euro 5, the 2.5 is Euro 4. That's why Thailand just recently got the 2.3 in the Terra because Thailand just shifted to Euro 5 last year.
