Toyota Motor PH Launches 2021 Fortuner (w/ Brochure)

Toyota Motor Philippines is re-asserting its lead in the mid-sized SUV segment with the launch of the refreshed 2021 Fortuner. The country’s best-selling SUV, the Fortuner gets a refreshed design, new features, and two new variants that respond to the ever-changing tastes of the Filipino market.

The 2021 Fortuner is headlined by the new LTD variant (known as the Fortuner Legender in Thailand) in both 4x4 and 4x2 configurations followed by Q and V variants in AT, and finally the base G variant in both AT and MT guise.

With this refresh, the Fortuner gets a more assertive face with a larger front grille and re-shaped bumpers. The base G variant now comes with bi-beam LED headlights with LED DRLs as standard, while the Q and V variants add line guide-style DRLs along with LED fog lamps and LED rear combination lamps. No doubt, the most striking addition though is the Fortuner LTD with its standard two-tone color (black roof), bolder and sportier bumper design, and machine-cut 18-inch wheels. It’s further differentiated from the rest of the line-up with split-style LED headlights, sequential turn signal lamps, and a unique rear LED combination lamp.

Inside, all variants get standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, but only the V, Q, and LTD grades get the more advanced 8-inch display audio system. The same three variants also get smart entry with push-start, automatic climate control, Qi wireless smartphone charging, and rear USB chargers as standard. Moving up to the Q, it boasts of a black leather interior with power adjustment for the front seats and dark wood trim. Finally, the Fortuner LTD adds a dose of sportiness with its maroon accents to its black leather trim. It also features galaxy black accents, ambient interior lighting, front seat ventilation, and a premium 9-speaker JBL sound system.

Like the 2021 Hilux, the Fortuner gets revamped engines. The 2.4-liter 2GD-FTV has 150 horsepower and 400 Nm of torque—similar numbers to the previous-generation Fortuner, but various improvements including a high-pressure fuel delivery system means a 5 percent improvement in fuel efficiency. Meanwhile, the Q and LTD variants are now powered by the more powerful, yet more efficient 1GD-FTV. This version gives 204 horsepower and 500 Nm of torque. Available transmissions remain a 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic, with the two-pedal version getting a re-calibration.

With safety now a Toyota priority, the 2021 Fortuner is the latest model to benefit from the Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) driver assist system. Standard on the Q and LTD, it adds Pre-Collision System, Lane Departure Alert, and Adaptive Cruise Control. This enables it to achieve a perfect 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating with a score of 87.46 out of 100.

All variants also come with SRS airbags (7 for the LTD variants), 3-pt. ELR seatbelts, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control with hill-start assist, and front and rear parking sensors. The G grade gets a reverse parking camera, while the V, Q, and LTD gets a 360-degree panoramic view monitor. Furthermore, the Fortuner LTD 4x4 also adds Downhill Assist Control.

The 2021 Fortuner will go on sale starting on Monday, October 19 at all of Toyota’s 70 authorized dealers nationwide. The carmaker is also instituting a one-price policy (regardless of location) with the following SRPs and colors:

  1. Toyota should have used their standard model variant naming.
    Fortuner G = Fortuner E
    Fortuner V = Fortuner G
    Fortuner Q = Fortuner V
Fortuner Ltd = Fortuner V TRD

    1. There's actually a TRD version as well. Right now, it's all part of their genuine accessories package but I won't be surprised if we'll see it as the TRD Sportivo in the near future.

    2. The LTD should have been called as the Legender trim.
