Ford Gives Its EcoSport a Rugged Makeover for 2021

Ford has just given its “OG” sub-compact SUV, the EcoSport a tougher, more rugged variant for 2021. Dubbed the EcoSport Active, it’s meant to cater to “adventure-loving customers.”

The EcoSport Active gets black body cladding that goes from tip to stern. The most notable addition is the scratch-resistant plastic that now covers the wheel arches. It also gets a refreshed grille, fender badges, a black roof, and increased ground clearance (Ford though didn’t say by how much exactly).

Inside, it gets Active-branded front seats with revised upholstery. Since it’s positioned near the top of the EcoSport range, the EcoSport Active gets features such as cruise control and an 8-inch infotainment system with Ford SYNC.

Mechanically, the 2021 EcoSport Active is powered solely by the Ford 1.0-liter EcoBoost which makes 125 horsepower. Destined for the European market for now, it’s mated solely to a 6-speed manual.
