Ford is America's Best-Selling Car Brand Yet Again

Ford has maintained its position as the best-selling car brand in the U.S. for the 11th straight year thanks in huge part to the strong showing of its truck and SUV portfolio. In total, they sold 2.044 million vehicles including the Lincoln luxury brand.

With Ford winding down passenger car sales to focus on trucks and SUVs (including crossovers), the F-Series pick-up truck carried the bottom line, selling 787,422 examples in 2020 alone. This makes the F-Series the best-selling pickup truck for 44 straight years.

Elsewhere, the Explorer garnered the title as the best-selling mid-sized SUV last year. Despite problems surrounding its quality, it managed to move 226,217 last year, with 66,008 of them coming in the last quarter of 2020 alone.

Ford’s lone passenger car offering, the Mustang sportscar sold 61,090 units making it America’s best-selling sportscar for the sixth straight year.
