The MG ZS Scores Five Stars in ASEAN NCAP Safety Test

MG’s best-selling sub-compact SUV, the ZS managed to score a perfect 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating.

While the variant tested is the one assembled at MG’s Thailand plant (for sale in Thailand and Vietnam), it’s representative of the Philippine model as well with similar safety features installed: dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, and seatbelt minder.

The MG ZS managed an overall score of 81 out of 100, giving it a 5-star ASEAN NCAP safety rating using the more stringent 2017-2020 protocol. It scored 44.82 out of 50 in Adult Occupancy Protection (AOP), 20.90 out of 25 in Child Occupant Protection (COP), and 15.28 out of 25 in Safety Assist Technology (SAT).

It provided good protection to the occupants in the frontal offset and side impact crash tests. Only the lack of advanced driver assist features such as blind spot indicators, Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), lane departure warning (LDW), and forward collision warning (FCW) prevented it from scoring any higher.
