Calapan City Suspends PMVIC

Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro joins the City of San Fernando in suspending the operation of the Private Motor Vehicle Inspection Center operating in the city’s jurisdiction.

In a letter addressed to the owner of JCV Motor Vehicle Inspection Center, the provincial board of Oriental Mindoro has issued an indefinite suspension to the sole PMVIC operating in the city. The aforementioned PMVIC has also been ordered to cease and desist its operations starting today until further notice.

The suspension of JCV Motor Vehicle Inspection Center’s business permit comes as Calapan City acted to protect the public’s welfare and interest, and noted complaints against the aforementioned PMVIC. These include those surrounding the technical competence of its personnel as well as compliance with health and safety protocols under COVID-19 protocols.

Several lawmakers have openly questioned the LTO’s move to implement PMVIC citing irregularities and prohibitive fees.
