The 2022 Seres SF95 is Huawei's P 1.6M Car

Huawei is trying a different approach with its first vehicle—the 2022 Seres SF95. In an atypical move, it won’t be sold at traditional car dealerships, but it’ll be made available at the brand’s flagship stores alongside its mobile phones and smart devices. The cost? It starts at a cool RMB 216,800 or P 1.608 million.

Hitting retail sale in China starting April 21, 2021, the 2022 Seres SF95 is an extended-range electric vehicle. Equipped with the in-house Huawei DriveONE electric drive, it can go up to 150 kilometers on a single charge, and up to 1,000 kilometers if the 1.5-liter 4-cylinder 122-horsepower gasoline generator needs to kick in to charge the batteries.

The Huawei DriveONE consists of a microcontroller, motor, reducer, DC converter, on-board charger, power distribution unit, and battery control unit. Thanks to this technology, the smartphone maker says production costs have been reduced.

Boasting of a lightweight aluminum chassis with independent suspension all around, the Seres SF95 can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.68 seconds. Its body is made of ultra-high strength steel and comes with Level 2 autonomous driving technology such as full-speed adaptive cruise control.

Realizing its expertise in consumer electronics, the Huawei Seres SF95 comes with vented and heated front seats with built-in massagers, and the brand’s HiCar system which enables users to seamlessly switch between mobile phone applications using the center console panel. The system also provides interactive voice control, and can be made to talk to other smart devices.

The Seres SF95 also packs an 11-speaker system made by Huawei’s sound technicians and acoustic experts. Together with the car’s ultra-quiet 38 decibel rating, it can deliver a truly immersive aural experience.

The 2022 Huawei Seres SF95 comes in two powertrains—a 2WD and a 4WD. The two-wheel drive costs RMB 216,800 (P 1.608 million), while the four-wheel drive variant costs RMB 246,800 or around P 1.832 million.
