Toyota Motor PH To Start Turning Over GR Yaris To Customers On July 17 (w/ Specs)

UPDATE: Toyota Motor Philippines now moved it to August 14 (7/19).

The long wait is almost over. After a pre-selling that started way back in March 2021, Toyota Motor Philippines will be turning over the first batch of GR Yaris to owners starting this Saturday, July 17. The date also happens to coincide with the official launch date of Toyota’s high-performance hot hatch.

The GR Yaris made its first official public appearance at the first leg of the Toyota Vios Cup, but Toyota Motor Philippines is still keeping the specs of the P 2.65-million tightly under wraps. Regardless, the full specs of the three-door Gazoo Racing model happened to land in our inbox, and this is what we’re sharing with you.

First up, the GR Yaris won’t be a limited edition or serialized model like the Honda Civic Type R. However, it’s understood that only 150 or so units will be arriving to satisfy performance enthusiasts in the country.

There are only three colors to choose from: Super White II, Precious Black, and Emotional Red. These models were all shown at the Toyota Vios Cup.

As for the remainder of the specs, the GR Yaris will get a boosted 1.6-liter inline-3 with 257 horsepower (261 PS), while torque is rated at 360 Nm. The sole transmission is a 6-speed manual. Other tidbits of info include the required octane (95 RON minimum) and emissions (Euro 6B).

Underneath, the Philippine-spec GR Yaris will offer the GR-Four 4WD system as well as the GR High Performance suspension pack. For track enthusiasts, they’d be pleased to know that it will arrive with front and rear Torsen-type limited slip differential (LSD) as well as a drive mode selector. It will also get 18-inch BBS alloy wheels and an Active Noise Control for its exhaust system to “amplify” the engine sounds.

It’s also the latest Toyota model to receive the Toyota Safety Sense and with that comes with pre-crash safety, adaptive cruise control auto high beam, and lane trace assist. It will also have a 7-inch display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and synthetic leather/suede seats.

Currently, there’s still some allocations of the GR Yaris left to prospective buyers, and they can order one through any of the following GR Certified Performance Toyota branches:
