Ford To Sell Jiangling Motors Subsidiary To Volvo

Jiangling Motors Corporation, a three-way partnership between Ford, Changan, and Jiangling Motors Group, just signed a deal to sell its heavy-duty truck subsidiary to Swedish truck maker, Volvo Trucks.

The deal, worth around 781 million RMB (USD 121 million) will allow Jiangling Motors to focus on light-commercial vehicles and its operations with Ford.

Aside from heavy-duty trucks, Jiangling Motors produces light trucks and pickups under the JMC brand.

It also builds the Ford-badged Territory (top photo), the Equator, and the Everest, as well as the Tourneo MPV and Transit van.

Jiangling Motors delivered 200,814 vehicles under JMC and Ford brands in the first seven months, an increase of 25 percent from the same period last year, the company said.

Kaninong rumor nito nakuha 'yang "Ford returning its manufacturing hub" in PH? Sa tsismisan sa kanto? HAHAHAHA

Seriously. Philippines is decades too late to convince other major manufacturers aside from the 'Yotas, let alone premium brands like the Chedengs, to return here for local production. Too much bureaucracy, idiotic sky-high taxes (with lack of infrastructure and incentives especially in emerging tech like electric cars) and outdated laws.
