Toyota's Refreshing The RAV4 For 2022 And Here's What You Can Expect

On the surface, it seems the only news here is the launch of a new Europe-centric trim for the RAV4 dubbed the Adventure. In reality though, Toyota is also marking this occasion to show bits and pieces of their refreshed for 2022 compact SUV.

Before getting there, it’s worth taking about the RAV4 Adventure. It features a more rugged styling complete with a unique grille, bumper, and alloy wheel design. It also gets a two-tone exterior option that pays tribute to Toyota’s legendary FJ40 Land Cruiser. The trim is already available in North America, Japan, and even Australia, but this is the first time the carmaker’s making it available for Europe.

Okay, enough about the RAV4 Adventure. Here’s what the rest of the RAV4 model range gets for 2022. Note that these changes are probably what the Philippines will see come sometime next year.

The 2022 RAV4 gets new projector-type LED headlights and LED front fog lights as standard. They also incorporate a new DRL design too. Notably, they replace the current halogen units seen in the base models. Headlights aside, Toyota’s compact SUV receives new alloy wheel designs with a 10-spoke pattern. They’re colored bright silver in the base and mid-trim variants and gloss black in the top trim version.

Inside, not much has changed although Toyota has fitted LED interior lighting as well as a power adjustment even for the front passenger seat. It also gains illuminated window control switches across the line as well as USB Type-C charging ports.

For now, Toyota hasn’t mentioned if the 2022 RAV4 will be receiving any mechanical changes, but don’t be surprised to find out any small tweaks to the suspension. Likely, the carmaker will be delving into more details closer to the start of its global deliveries sometime first quarter 2022.

  3. If they can't sell properly specd Rav4, might as well drop this from the lineup or offer a properly specd Rav4 at a premium (for loyal Toyota customers).
