Toyota To Ramp Up Production From December Onwards

With the parts shortages starting to ease up, Toyota, it seems, wants to ramp up its production from December onwards.

A Reuters report quotes three sources saying that the Japanese automaker is targeting to regain 97,000 units or about a third of its lost output brought upon by supply disruptions between December to March. This may include vehicles such as the hot-selling Land Cruiser 300.

With COVID-19 infection rates easing up in automotive supplier hubs like Vietnam and Malaysia, concerns about production risks are starting to ease.

It must be remembered that last month, Toyota cut its production target for the financial year to end-March by 300,000 vehicles to 9 million units because rising COVID-19 infections slowed work at parts factories in Malaysia and Vietnam, compounding a global chip shortage that has forced it and other automakers to curtail output.

Having said that, Toyota has remained cautious and has not officially confirmed the production increase.

For its part, Toyota Motor Philippines officially says that the global situation gripping its parent company will not have any impact to its local business. However, sources within the company say that supply of certain products will start to get affected if the global production issues are not solved soon.

  1. This plus Toyota's recently inaugurated Batangas Vehicle Center = a lot shorter waiting times

    Well, hopefully.
