Nissan Aims To Electrify 50 Percent Of Its Vehicles Globally By 2030

Nissan unveiled the next step in its transformation plan: Nissan Ambition 2030. It is the company’s new long-term vision that puts the Japanese carmaker on the road to being a sustainable company, driving towards a cleaner, safer, and more inclusive future.

Over the next ten years, Nissan will deliver more electrified vehicles and technological innovations while expanding its operations globally.

Based on customer demands for a diverse range of exciting vehicles, Nissan will introduce 23 new electrified models, including 15 new EVs by fiscal year 2030 aiming for an electrification mix of more than 50 percent globally across the Nissan and Infiniti brands.

In step with their electrified ambition, Nissan will evolve its lithium-ion battery technology, introducing a cobalt-free system to bring costs down by 65 percent by fiscal year 2028.

After that, Nissan aims to launch EVs with its proprietary all-solid-state batteries (ASSB) by fiscal year 2028, and ready a pilot plant in Yokohama as early as fiscal year 2024. With the introduction of breakthrough ASSB, Nissan will be able to expand its EV offerings across segments and offer more dynamic performance.

By reducing charging time to one-third, ASSBs will make EVs more efficient and accessible. Further, Nissan expects ASSB to bring the cost of battery packs down to a level that is level with gasoline-powered vehicles.

Finally, Nissan aims to expand ProPILOT technology to over 2.5 million Nissan and Infiniti vehicles by fiscal year 2026. The company will also further develop its autonomous vehicle technologies, aiming to incorporate next generation LIDAR systems on virtually every new model by fiscal year 2030.
