UPDATE: Number Coding takes effect December 1, 2021 (11/30).
The Unified Vehicular Volume Reduction Program (UVVRP) or better known as the “Number Coding” scheme is making a return starting this week.
Approved by the majority of Metro Manila mayors, the Number Coding scheme will be implemented from Monday to Friday from 5 PM to 8 PM. It will only cover private vehicles.
Public utility vehicles (PUVs), including TNVSes are exempted from the scheme as they are still operating under limited passenger capacity under Alert Level 2. TNVSes will receive special stickers to help enforcers tell them apart from private vehicles.
Currently, only Makati City is implementing a modified version of the Number Coding scheme which exempts those with two or more passengers.
The actual implementation of the number coding scheme will start two days (or Thursday, December 2 at the earliest) after the resolution is published on the Official Gazette on Tuesday (UPDATE: Number Coding starts on December 1, 2021).
So does it make sense if they allow a heavier traffic in the morning but not in the afternoon? (5pm - 8pm only)
ReplyDeleteBased on personal experience, morning rush hour isn't as bad as before since people go in their offices at different times. However, when it comes to the afternoon, people tend to go home at the same time.

ReplyDeleteWeird time frame, so say you used your coding car in the morning. You have to make sure you're already home before 5 or else you'll have to wait till 8 so that you won't get pulled over. Sana they reverted to the original time frame nalang kasi parang magulo.
ReplyDeleteI think the point is that morning rush hour is still manageable (and based on my personal experience), it is. The afternoon rush hour though is terrible.
