2022 Changan CS35 Plus Changes The Game For P 898K (w/ Specs)

Changan Motor Philippines launches the 2022 CS35 Plus. The sub-compact crossover fights back in the segment with a huge upgrade in terms of aesthetics, convenience features, and safety.

The 2022 CS35 Plus now gets Changan’s signature split LED headlights with LED DRLs and front position lamps. The new grille features an obsidian rock formation pattern, while red accents wrap around the bumpers, sides, and rear. At the back, new full-width LED taillights, sharks fin antenna, and dual exhaust pipes give a sportier presence. Available 18-inch alloy wheels amp up the side profile.

Inside, the new CS35 Plus has a flat-bottom steering wheel, an automatic climate control with a high-efficiency filter, and available rear air vents. At the center is a 10-inch touch display infotainment system with wireless charging, Bluetooth connectivity and video playback capability. For passengers, dual-tone leather seats offer firm, body-supporting foam. In terms of convenience features, the CS35 Plus offers a panoramic sunroof and even a power tailgate.

Powering the CS35 Plus is a 1.4-liter turbocharged direct-injection engine with 160 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. The sole transmission is a 7-speed wet-type dual clutch automatic. Further elevating its driving performance, the Electric Power Steering system offers three driver adjustable modes—Sport, Standard, and Comfortable.

The biggest news for the 2022 CS35 Plus is the Safe-tech System—a comprehensive safety and protection system that consists of Adaptive Cruise Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking with Front Collision Warning. It also has 6 SRS airbags, ABS with EBD, vehicle stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, and a 360-degree camera with a built-in drive recorder (Hype and Luxe).

The new CS35 Plus comes in three colors: Wunderlust White, Timberwolf Gray, and Draco Red. The prices are:
  • CS35 Plus Lite – P 898,000
  • CS35 Plus Hype – P 969,000
  • CS35 Plus Luxe – P 999,000

    1. Uly himself was very disappointed w the Ford Territory.
Still, there are already 8,000+ owners of the Territory here in our country.

    2. But Territory only gets the 3-star China NCAP rating though... BTW MG HS is safer because of lots of features even if its launch late than our neighbors.

  3. Changan Phils. conducted a 100,000km endurance test on the previous CS35 model (supposedly a demonstration of long-term durability and reliability).
The YouTube reviews are generally favorable (the host of Reygan's Rides really liked this crossover esp its turbo engine).
A notable contender to the Coolray at a more affordable price, in my opinion.

    1. The 100,000-km durability test was done on a rolling road, not on public roads which explains why the unit still felt fresh even after putting all that mileage.

Also, we've reviewed the CS35 Plus before: https://www.carguide.ph/2021/10/review-2021-changan-cs35-plus-14t.html

    2. You have a point Uly.
Based on your article, you have a generally favorable review of the previous CS35.
Hope you can do a review of the facelifted model.

  4. Plus, the new CS35 is more affordable than the previous one.

  5. This is a real value for money. It ticks all the right boxes for less than 1M including all safety and tech found only in more expensive vehicles. Changan Phils. have listened to their customers and up the ante vs the competition.

  6. Sir Uly, requesting for a review of the facelifted CS35 and how it compares to the Coolray.

  7. Is it a 4-cylinder or 3-cylinder engine?

  8. It's the best option for those looking for a Subcompact Crossover. It ticks all the boxes that hot selling Geely CoolRay Comfort variant don't have. It has Panoramic sunroof, a new face lift exterior and new heavily interior upgrades plus updated Engine power and lastly very Cheap Lowered price below 1M.

  9. So what happened here???? The Lady CEO of Changan who is the same overpricing lady from Hyundai reversed course?????

The 2020/2021 pre-facelifted CS35 plus was introduced with 999k price that jumped to 1.069M and then overpriced to 1.169M and by Q4 2021 they are giving away 100k discount.

Now this facelifted version goes back to 999k. That lady CEO should stop doing arbitrary price increases - it just shows how stupid she is and how she wants to deceive Filipino buyers.

    1. I agree. That marketing lady of the official Hyundai PH dealer is going nuts! They were extremely maximizing profit margins by selling at a higher price and stripping down basic specs and features to bare bones.

I heard that Hyundai HQ Korea was not pleased to this and she throws a fit and ruined Hyundai PH further! Look at their sales in 2021 and Jan 2022!

    2. She's going all-in on Changan since she's on the way out as Hyundai's Philippine distributor, if murmurs from local automotive circles are to be believed. Even Mrs. Agudo herself telegraphed as much when she sent out the "Hyundai PH New Era" statement. Though she's not really being kicked out, this is more about Hyundai Motors Corporate taking charge of its Asia Pacific business, a la Mitsubishi Motors.

    3. Sojitz had Geely as a fallback when Mitsubishi Motors took over, HARI/Agudo has Changan when Hyundai takes over.

      Delete
    4. She was trying to replicate the tactics of Mitsubishi at higher price but with counter with huge discounts and Low low Down payment but didn't work out for Changan SUVs but for sedan Alsvin it did manage sales quite good.

    5. When that Lady CEO of HARI stepped in, that was the start of Hyundai's downfall here in the Philippines.

The pricing & marketing position of Hyundai before was - Top of the line Hyundai = Mid Spec model of a similar Jap Model.

That was the reason Accents, Elantras, Sonatas, Tucsons and Santa Fe sold like hotcakes.

But when she stepped in. She stupidly priced Hyundai with a premium. Who will buy a Top of the Line Hyundai which is priced higher than a Top of the Line Jap?

At worst, entry level Hyundai vehicles are bare bones and under spec'd, how stupid to have only 1 airbag when the competition has 2 airbags standard? How stupid your entry level have steel wheels and 1-din radio when your competition has smaller sized mag wheels and 2-din radios.

So Sonata & Santa Fe sales went kaput, then Elantra then Tucson... leaving only Accent. At worst, HARI sold the old Accent even if there is a new Accent Model already.

With the Accent as the sole model that can potentially sell, they did not even introduce the higher spec'd GLS model and just offered a GL model which is still underspec'd against the competitor.

I'm glad that Lady CEO will exit Hyundai, though Changan buyers be wary of her tactics.

    6. Good riddance. And I hope the intervention by the mothership Korean company will turn the tables in the passengers car segments. I wish we all have the N versions of Elantra, Tucson and the hatchbacks i10 and i20 :(

  10. chinese garbage. tignan niyo 10 to 15 years saan mapupunta mga yan. don't trust them, ganyan din nangyari dati, bigla na lang naglaho na parang bula ang mga chinese car company dito

  11. Kumusta ang sales ng Chery at Changan vehicles last year? Not sure kung nag-publish sila ng 2021 sales figures.

  12. This is gonna be the sign Hyundai Motor Company entering in as Hyundai Motor Philippines to take over Passenger Cars and Truck-Bus operations here in the PH, and Perez-Agudo will be only focusing on Changan and AVID. While Hyundai Motor Company is seeking again the membership with CAMPI, but only time will tell for this.

  14. Some Chinese car brands are already demonstrating the durability and reliability of their vehicles. Examples:
    1. GAC GA4 - Very successful stints in several endurance races
    2. Changan CS35 - 100,000km mileage and still running well
    3. Geely Coolray - The priest vlogger of Carpenter's Production owns a Coolray and it already has a 50,000km mileage. According to him, still no problem w the vehicle.
    4. MG5 - successfully completed an endurance cup (though not as impressive as the GA4).

    2. lol i had my last car 67,400+ KM for 8 years and i already dispose of it. Why do i wait for it to reach 300,000KM? be more realistic, you will upgrade your car sooner than you think.

  15. After 500,000 km or 10-15 yrs? Hmmm.

  16. Anonymous @11:40am is a good example of an a$$hole who is putting ridiculous numbers in terms of mileage and vehicle age. Don't listen to him.

    1. yeah, it's ridiculous for chinese cars to reach those mileage and age right?

      Delete
  17. Reaching 10 to 15 years is not ridiculous or unheard of. In fact its very common. Just look at the 90s corolla and civics, even lancers. They're still running. Reaching 300,000km can also be done if the vehicle frequents the provinces. Lots of pick ups and SUVs reach that mileage usually even before 10 years.
