All-New Suzuki Celerio, Capable Of 26.68 km/L, Nears Philippine Market Launch

A month after an anonymous tipster sent photos of the all-new 2022 Suzuki Celerio being unloaded at the Batangas Port, new photos emerged of the sub-compact hatchback on car carriers.

According to the tipster, the Celerios were being transported to Suzuki Philippines’ plant in Canlubang, Calamba City, Laguna. It won’t be long before the hatchback clears its pre-delivery inspection and will sent to authorized dealerships for retail sale.

The all-new Celerio is expected to carry the mantle of being the most fuel-efficient vehicle in the country, something it has done in a DOE-sanctioned fuel economy run. Globally, it’s powered by the K10C engine. The 998-cc (1-liter) 3-cylinder engine features the brand’s Dual Jet technology. Coupled with dual variable valve timing and segment-first idle start-stop, the Celerio offers up to 26.68 km/L.

The global model also features cooled EGR, an integrated exhaust manifold, and an auto tensioner system. All in all, power is rated at 66 horsepower at 5,500 rpm and 89 Nm of torque at 3,500 rpm. A 5-speed manual is standard, but Suzuki’s clutchless manual, the AGS or Auto Gear Shift, is also available.

  1. Many car buyers will now sacrifice engine power for fuel efficiency.

  2. Nothing wrong with that since most of the power is never used anyway. It's just a reserve that most people willingly pay disproportionately for, I think.
