Remember the Hyundai Alcazar? Well, it’s now being sold outside of India, under a different name: the Grand Creta. Now sold in Latin America as well as South Africa, the Grand Creta is essentially a stretched version of the Creta sub-compact SUV made to accommodate seven seats.
Like the Alcazar, the Grand Creta rides on Hyundai’s K2 platform shared with the non-Grand Creta and the Venue. It also keeps the same engine options such as a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder gas engine with 159 horsepower and 191 Nm of torque as well as a 1.5-liter turbo diesel with 115 horsepower and 250 Nm of torque. Both engines are mated to either a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic.
The Grand Creta comes with standard features such as 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, an 8-inch infotainment screen, a wireless charger, 6 SRS airbags, and synthetic leather upholstery. Moving up adds more amenities including a panoramic sunroof, an all-digital instrument cluster, and powered driver’s seat.
It’s currently unknown whether the Alcazar / Grand Creta will be sold for ASEAN markets. However, the Korean automaker did confirm that a 7-seater MPV is coming and that version will be built in Indonesia for markets including the Philippines. It’s rumored to gain the Stargazer name and will be launched towards the latter half of this year.
Stargazer? Blech, what a crappy name lol....
ReplyDeleteAlcazar nalang sana :)
I believe the Stargazer is actually a different vehicle than the Alcazar/Grand Creta. i think the Stargazer is more like the China-only Custo.
DeleteStill all speculative at this point...but it's for sure that our market will get the Stargazer...the Grand Creta/Alcazar, no word yet.
Deleteah onga noh, misread that last part, I thought they we're talking about the Creta being the Stargazer. Pero yeah Custo is the MPV
DeleteCusto's also a good name tho
Alcazar's a good name! Just curious about its diesel engine why it's 1.5 and not 1.6 the same as accent, is the creta lighter than accent? Considering both hp outputs.
ReplyDeleteWhat Hyundai Ph really needs to figure out is the pricing and specs of the models it intends to bring here, hopefully, under a new captain. It needs to position itself properly in lieu of the competition brought out by the automakers from China.
ReplyDeleteHyundai, please, no more engine problems moving forward, anywhere in the world.
