Changan CS35 Plus Achieves 21.49 km/L In Certified Philippine Test

Changan’s latest SUV offering, the New CS35 Plus, registered above-market fuel efficiency ratings at the fuel economy run conducted by the Automotive Association of the Philippines (AAP) last April 16, 2022.

For each run, fuel tank was filled to the brim with Unleaded 95RON at the gas station to mark the start and refueled at the end to measure the amount of fuel used. All standard OEM equipment was present in the vehicle. Tire pressure was set at 2.2 bar (32 PSI). Air conditioning was at full thermostat with the lowest blower setting that was comfortable for the occupants. The radio was not used.

Under the said control conditions, the New SC35 Plus yielded the following official results:

For the highway test route, the New CS35 Plus registered fuel consumption of 21.495 km/L covering a distance of 180.652 kilometers (km) and running at 60 to 80 km/h along NLEX from Balagtas in Bulacan to Tarlac City and back. The odometer reading at the start of the run was at 2,163 km and finished at 2,341 km. When refueled, only 8.408 liters were added, coming from a full tank.

For the urban test route, the New CS35 Plus consumed 15.254 km/L after travelling 86.8 km at 60 to 80 km/h through the key thoroughfares connecting Makati City, Manila, Quezon City, and back with the odometer starting at 2374 km and finishing at 2460 km. At the end of the run, the car was refueled with just 5.69 liters of gas.

Changan Philippines says the result is down to the Blue Core technology present in the CS35 Plus. Its 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline direct injection engine makes 160 horsepower and 260 Nm of torque. This is then paired with a 7-speed dual clutch for effortless gear changes with quicker reaction and delivers ample acceleration on demand. The optimized internal combustion system reduces fuel consumption by 20 percent and carbon emissions by 40 percent without compromising the vehicle’s overall performance.

Launched in March this year, the New Changan CS35 Plus likewise boasts significant enhancements in its safety system, dubbed “Safe-tech.” This advanced safety and protection technology consists of thoughtful highly-advanced active safety features that are over and above the basic in vehicles of its class and price tag.
