Remember The Kia Soul? This Is How It Looks Like Now

Under Kia’s previous distributor, they sold this crossover called the Soul. Unapologetically upright and boxy, this sub-compact urban runabout gained a small but loyal following locally who gravitated towards it for its funky looks.

Since the launch of the latest generation model in 2020 though, Kia Philippines opted to pull the plug on the Soul; opting instead to concentrate on models like the Soluto and Stonic. That said, if the Korean automaker wants to make a stylish statement, they could opt to bring it back in 2023.

Shown as a refreshed model, the 2023 Soul gets an entirely new front fascia. The new grille is set off with redesigned head and fog lights. The DRLs and turn signal indicators have been changed as well. Towards the side, the Soul gets new 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels, while at the back, it gets a tweaked rear fascia and taillights.

Under the hood, Kia has simplified the engine line-up dropping the turbo. For 2023, the Soul is powered by a single powertrain: a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder with 147 horsepower and 179 Nm of torque. Kia’s Intelligent Variable Transmission comes standard.

Inside, the Soul remains almost untouched save for a larger infotainment system. The top-of-the-line GT-Line also adds a Harman/Kardon sound system, multi-colored LED speaker lights, a powered driver’s seat, and an electronic parking brake.

Should Kia Philippines offer the Soul once more in the Philippine market, or are crossovers like the Stonic and Seltos already good enough?
