What Do You Think Of The 2023 MG 5's Design?

Last year, MG created headlines with its MG 5. For the first time, their sub-compact is taking two distinct styling directions—one dictated by the Chinese market, and the other by the European market.

As a reminder, the Chinese market MG 5 switches over to the brand’s so-called “third-generation family design.” Thus, the sedan receives a coupe-like roofline along with a sweeping and aggressive-looking front clip.

The European market, meanwhile, decided to refresh the current MG 5 instead. Going for a wagon body style, it features a heavily-revised front and rear end. It also gets re-designed LED head- and taillights as well as alloy wheels.

Inside, the 2023 MG 5 receives a 10.25-inch infotainment system.

And because MG’s trying to make in-roads in Europe, the MG 5 is available solely as an EV. The brand says it offers more than 400 kilometers of range thanks to a lithium-ion battery mounted between the front and rear axles. The electric motor delivers a healthy 184 horsepower and 280 Nm of torque.

According to MG, 0 to 100 km/h takes 8.3 seconds. Its quick charging capacity can juice up this EV from flat to 80 percent in just 30 minutes.

What’s more, the MG 5 EV is also Vehicle-To-Load or V2L capable. This means users can use their MG 5 to power other electric devices such as e-bikes, portable heaters, or camping equipment.

The MG 5 EV remains the only wagon-bodied EV in the UK enabling it to sell more than 8,000 examples since it was first launched late in 2020.

With the Philippine market MG 5 due for an update soon, do you prefer to get the Chinese or European version?

  2. It looks clean; but nothing special. Not a head turner.

  3. I wish MG ph will release the 2023 MG5 sedan Brit dynamic. The sunset yellow is really a head turner plus the interior gives a premium feels.
