Does The Changan CS35 Plus's SafeTech System Make It The Safest SUV In Its Class?

According to the Metro Manila Accident Reporting and Analysis System (MMARAS), close to half of their 26,000 documented road accidents in the National Capital Region alone happened between from June to October—coinciding the country’s wet season.

With the monsoon season in full swing, Changan Motor Philippines believes they have a leg up against the competition with the CS35 Plus’s above-class safety features they call SafeTech.

For starters, it comes with Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go function. Working between 30 to 150 km/h, it uses a built-in radar in the front grille to adjust the CS35 Plus’s speed based on the vehicular traffic ahead of it. The same radar system works to unlock Front Collision Warning which displays a visual warning on the instrument panel when it senses the danger of a rear-end collision with the vehicle in front. If the driver fails to react in time, the Autonomous Emergency Braking can bring the vehicle to a halt, or slow it down to reduce the severity of the crash.

These functions aside, the CS35 Plus also comes with a full suite of airbags, ABS with EBD, and even Electronic Stability Control that detects skidding and automatically applies the brakes to individual wheels to counter loss of directional control.

Plus, the Around View Camera & Monitor (standard on the Hype and Luxe variants), projects a 360-degree bird’s eye view of the area around the CS35 Plus. This helps identify nearby obstructions when parking or maneuvering in tight spaces. Complementing this feature is the HD Driving Recorder—a built-in dash cam that automatically records all the sides captured by the Around View cams before and after potential accidents occur. Videos are saved on the Micro SD card inside the module above the brake pedal, and can be quickly viewed on the 10-inch infotainment screen.

Oh, and speaking of floods, the CS35 Plus comes with a ground clearance of 180 mm allowing you to safely navigate gutter-deep floods.

Thanks to the Changan CS35 Plus’s SafeTech system, you can be better equipped to deal with difficult road conditions. Check it out at your nearest Changan dealer where it retails starting at P 999,000 for the 1.4T Lite and topping out at P 1,169,000 for the 1.4T Luxe.

  2. I wish it could have Android Auto and Apple Carplay. Seems like only GAC (some models) and Chery (though, Apple Carplay only on nearly every models) are the only Chinese manufacturers that spec it overseas. I don't know about the other brands, but Geely and even Changan refuses to put smartphone connectivity that's not Bluetooth and third-party linking apps, Geely particularly. Extremely stubborn.

Maybe we can tinker the infotainment with aftermarket hacks?

    1. Yeah. That's the tactic employed by HARI (which now manages Changan/CMPI) when they launched Starex here.

    2. Selling well does not mean victory. They can sell as much as they want but that doesn’t change the fact that chinese cars are crappy.
