Lexus NX Subject To 2 Additional Recalls In The Philippines

Lexus Philippines is recalling selected NX 350 premium compact SUVs for two reasons—one connected to its skid control system, and the second with regards to an update to its lane keep assist system.

In the first, 17 units of the NX 350 are being recalled to have their skid control ECU re-programmed. These units, produced between November 17, 2021 to June 27, 2022 may have their skid control EBU (located within the brake actuator assembly) falsely detect an overcurrent of the electronic parking brake. This may trigger a fail-safe mode which will, in turn, illuminate a malfunction indicator lamp on the dashboard. This prevents the electronic parking brake from being engaged or disengaged.

In the second, 62 units of the same NX 350 model (produced between November 15, 2021 to June 6, 2022) will have its Lane Tracing Assist (LTA) system re-programmed. While not exactly a recall per se, through Lexus’s knowledge, the upper limit of the LTA steering angle may be reached earlier than expected. If this condition occurs, the system may provide a reduced level of lane centering assist. Should this occur, Lexus says the driver remains in full control of all steering maneuvers and that all safety-related systems—both visual and audible—will continue to operate as designed. In order to rectify this, Lexus will have to re-program the LTA software in the forward recognition camera.

In both of these cases, Lexus will be performing the remedy at no cost to its customers. It is understood that Lexus has already reached out to affected customers regarding these measures.
