Petron Philippine Overland Expedition 2022 Heads Into The Jungle

After delays due to Typhoon Karding, the first-ever Petron Philippine Overland Expedition (PHOX) 2022: Pacific Coast Challenge flagged off with 25 teams vying for the top prize.

Organized by Mototesto Overland Equipment in partnership with Petron Corporation and in association with Motolite and CST Tires saw 75 trail-ready (but road legal) off-roaders flag off from the LausGroup Event Centre in San Fernando, Pampanga. After that, it will be a test of man and machine through a 285-kilometer stretch of uncharted paths ending in General Nakar in Quezon.

The champion is set to win P 500,000, while the second and third places will get P 200,000 and P 100,000 respectively.

The PHOX is not a race to finish first, but teams will garner points based on the completion of quests throughout the four-day trek. By October 22, teams would have traveled around 160 kilometers of asphalt road and 120 kilometers of gravel, sand, mud, rocky paths, and river crossings.

Each team must also be self-reliant, bringing with them provisions such as food and water, including power source, as well as critical vehicle spare parts and supplies that shall last them throughout the whole event.
