2023 Lexus RX Arrives With Standard Hybrid Power. Prices Start At P 5.058M

In celebration of their 14th anniversary in the Philippines, Lexus has unveiled the all-new, fifth-generation Lexus RX SUV. The groundbreaking SUV—which was the world’s first hybrid luxury SUV—continues its forward thinking approach resulting in a more powerful, stylish, and sustainable Lexus RX.

For the first time ever, the Philippine market is treated to an all-hybrid line-up. The range starts with the RX 350h and its electrified 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine with a combined 246 horsepower and 316 Nm of torque. This engine is mated to a e-CVT system. Those seeking performance will be thrilled to know that the RX 500h is also available. Using a completely new parallel hybrid system, it pairs a turbocharged 2.4-liter turbo with a compact rear e-axle. The electric motor alone makes 103 horsepower, but combined, it delivers 371 horsepower and 550 Nm of torque. Power is routed through all four wheels via the new Direct4 all-wheel drive system. A 6-speed automatic delivers a zero to 100 km/h time of just 6.2 seconds.

Speaking about Direct4, this new Lexus all-wheel drive system uses a separate electric motor and inverter to balance the power and torque between the front and rear axles in any driving situation. According to Lexus, it enables better communication between the road and steering wheel. And because it operates quicker and more precisely than any mechanical system ever could, it offers unparalleled handling stability and high-speed driving dynamics. A Dynamic Rear Steering system is also standard on the RX 500h.

For the RX 350h variants, power is still controlled by the E-Four AWD. Instead of a mechanical transfer case, it uses an electric motor placed in the rear axle for near-instantaneous drive force application in low-grip or acceleration scenarios.

Adaptive Variable Suspension or AVS is also standard on the RX 350h Premier and RX 500h F Sport, and this offers independent damping control at each wheel—giving a more comfortable ride on uneven surfaces and higher damping force when turning. The driver can also select between two damping modes—Normal and Sport at any time.

Underpinned by the Lexus GA-K platform, the all-new Lexus RX offers improved rigidity, while the extended wheelbase (+ 60 mm) accommodates a larger interior. Moreover, it helps it achieve a bolder stance with a sleeker front-rear posture and a lower roofline (-10 mm), lending it a coupe-like feel.

The 2023 Lexus RX gets triple LED headlights accentuated by L-shaped daytime running lights. At the back, the wider track (+45 mm) emboldens its stance, further emphasized by the single-line Lexus signature taillights and “LEXUS” badging on the tailgate. 21-inch alloy wheels are standard, while the sole F Sport variant offers a visually distinguishable look with its unique grille, skirts, and bumpers.

Inside, the all-new Lexus RX provides a more driver-focused environment. Information sources such as the multimedia screen, multi-information display, and gauges are all grouped so that their content can be read with minimal eye and head movement. New seat designs (vegan leather on the RX 350h Executive) and more intelligent packaging makes the cabin even more spacious. Golfers will enjoy the luggage compartment and its reduced loading height and longer load area. A 40/20/40 split-folding rear seat offers improved flexibility too.

The 2023 Lexus RX comes equipped with next-level driver assist systems thanks to the equipment of the latest Lexus Safety System+. Improvements include the further expansion of the Pre-Collision System’s ability to detect motorcycles and other objects, while the Adaptive Cruise Control now recognizes traffic cutting in front of the vehicle. The Lane Trace Assist, meanwhile, follows a more natural line through bends.

The all-new Lexus RX is available in three variants, each with a hybrid drivetrain. Pricing is as follows:
  • Lexus RX 350h Executive – P 5,058,000
  • Lexus RX 350h Premier – P 6,188,000
  • Lexus RX 500 F Sport – P 6,668,000
Lexus has undertaken a complete reinvention of the Lexus RX, building on the model’s heritage, while breaking new design and technology boundaries to increase the breadth of its capabilities and its appeal to an even wider customer base. The 2023 Lexus RX is now available for reservations at Lexus Manila.

  1. And by "arrive", they mean wait for at least 12 months on your order. Yes, the wait is 12-18 months on the popular Lexus models.

  2. What is driver-confused environment? Did you mean driver-focused environment or maybe driver-centric? Or did you really mean the new rx gets the driver confused? Now I'm confused. Lolz
