The 2023 Suzuki Ertiga Hybrid Will Be The Philippines' Most Affordable Hybrid

January is shaping up to be the month of small 7-seater SUVs and MPVs. Just as we thought that Mitsubishi Motors Philippines had the first big launch of 2023, the revamped Xpander Cross, Suzuki Auto Philippines is beating them by 10 days by launching the 2023 Ertiga Hybrid.

Previewed at the 8th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS), Suzuki is reportedly making the bold move of making the hybrid motor not just available on the top-of-the-line variant, but as the standard powertrain of their MPV.

The Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki or SHVS as the system is officially called, mates the tried-and-tested K15B with an integrated starter generator or ISG. Together with a 6-Ah 12-volt lithium-ion battery, this turns the Ertiga into a mild hybrid. Outputs are set at 104.7 horsepower at 6,000 rpm, while torque is at 138 Nm of torque.

While the outputs aren’t drastically up over the purely combustion engine version, it does manage to bump up its fuel efficiency. Together with an idle start/stop function, it should be enough for more than 20 km/L for the 4-speed automatic, and around 17 km/L for the 5-speed manual (per Suzuki estimates).

And if you were paying attention, you noticed we mentioned “variants” for the Ertiga Hybrid. Well, based on several dealer posts, it will come in at least four variants: the GA, GL, and GLX. The prices are as follows:
  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GA MT – P 954,000
  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GL MT – P 1,068,000
  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GL AT – P 1,103,000
  • Ertiga Hybrid 1.5 GLX AT – P 1,153,000
Take note though that Suzuki Auto Philippines has not revealed anything official at this point, but if these dealer posts are true, the Ertiga Hybrid will be most affordable electrified offering in the country, beating even anything from the Chinese brands!

Specs is another closely guarded secret, but it must be remembered that the top-of-the-line Ertiga Hybrid shown at PIMS had goodies such as leather seats, a power tailgate, a 9-inch infotainment system, and a 360-degree camera.

Do you think Suzuki priced the Ertiga Hybrid well?

  1. This is even better than Nissan Kicks if pricing and equipment levels are true. It's got the two of my most desired features: 360 camera and power liftgate; plus more space for people. This is a winner for Suzuki. Next - please bring in the new hybrid Vitara.

  2. The 4AT is a shame to carry over. Too old. Chinese cars have the best engine and transmission

  3. Nice power train but it's still Old dated looking MPV in the market and Suzuki's main problem is the expensive availability of spare parts. What more if hybrid system breakdown?? Conventional engine is still the way to go. Mitsubishi Expander Cross is still the Best MPV in the market.
