Hyundai PH Previews 6-Seater Stargazer Variant

Barely six months after its Philippine launch, Hyundai Motor Philippines is set to add a new variant for its Stargazer MPV, this time heeding the call of customers who want a bit more luxury.

Previewed for the first time at the Manila International Auto Show, Hyundai Motor Philippines (HMPH) is showing off a new 6-seater option for their compact MPV. Set to arrive before the end of the year, this yet-unnamed variant of the Stargazer will likely sit atop the range, currently occupied by the Stargazer 1.5 GLS Premium (read our review here).

Among the expected features of the Stargazer 6-seater include a range of safety and driver-assist functions that help it stand out versus its competitors. Notable ones are the Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Safe Exit Warning (SEW), that alerts when alighting the vehicle and there is a hazard from behind, and Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA), that detects the risk of crashing into pedestrians or other cars by automatically applying the brakes.

Though HMPH has yet to confirm the final pricing, the Stargazer 6-seater will likely carry a small premium over the 7-seater version. A look at Hyundai Indonesia and Thailand pricing reveals a roughly P 30,000 price jump. If HMPH prices it similarly, expect the list price to jump from P 1,258,000 to around P 1,288,000. Do you think the additional price jump is worth it for a bit of luxury?

  1. If they just update the ugly dashboard, it would be selling like hotcakes.
