BMW Shows Off They Can Still Make Beautiful Cars With The Concept Touring Coupe

BMW shows that their design team still has the chops by coming up with this beautiful BMW Concept Touring Coupé at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2023. Technically, a one-off concept, BMW says the shooting brake may head to production if there’s a strong enough clamor for it.

Reminiscent of the BMW Z3 M Coupe and previous Z4 Coupe (E86), the Concept Touring Coupé turns a Z4 roadster into a luxurious two-seater grand tourer with enough trunk space for spontaneous out-of-town trips.

The design highlight of the BMW Concept Touring Coupé is the rear-end. Created from the flowing contours of the roof, it’s been made to merge seamlessly with the rear side panels, while accentuating the shoulders. A flat rear window and tight body surfaces emphasize the solid stance.

Viewed from the side, the brand’s interpretation of the shooting brake is clearly recognizable. The long hood, streamlined roof contours, and powerful rear section form a distinctive two-box design, while the elongated side window graphic with the Hofmeister kink and flared rear wheel arches underline a sense of elegance.

A special color—Sparkling Lario—a gray-brown color with embedded blue glass flakes was created especially for the car. The effect is completed by silver-bronze accents and a unique BMW kidney grille with longitudinal bars. The wheels measure 20 inches at the front and 21 inches at the back.

The BMW Concept Touring Coupé shares the Z4’s inline-6 powertrain (no word on output or torque).

Inside, the BMW Concept Touring Coupé has a bi-color interior (in two shades of brown) with leather sourced from Italian leather workshop, Poltrona Frau. It also comes with luggage designed exclusively for the car by the long-established Schedoni leather workshop in Modena. The custom-made set consists of two large and one small weekender bags, plus a garment bag, all of which are perfectly coordinated with the vehicle.

Again, it must be reiterated that the BMW Concept Touring Coupé remains a concept car for now. However, if the German automaker does decide to build it, it’ll likely be in very small numbers.
