Is Ford Philippines Launching The Next-Generation Everest Wildtrak?

Is Ford Philippines readying to launch the Everest Wildtrak for the Philippine market? That seems to be the case if this post from The Philippine STAR Wheels is to be used as basis.

In their post, they said that they’re “here at Sa Pa, Vietnam, to drive the next-generation Ranger Raptor and one mystery vehicle.” Check out their Facebook below.

The publication (in which I also write for) is clearly subject to some sort of embargo, but based on the photo they posted, there’s one peculiar vehicle parked along with a row of Ranger Raptors. The two vehicles in the foreground are clearly the next-gen Ranger Raptors, in Code Orange and Conquer Gray. Towards the far end, there’s also what looks to be an Everest.

The vehicle of interest, however, is the vehicle located third from the foreground and that looks to be an Everest Wildtrak in Aluminum Metallic. The telltale signs include the raised roof rails (the Everest and Ranger for that matter have flushed units) and the black hood badging.

Now, this is all speculative at this point, but it does match Ford’s regional activity of late. They’ve been very busy launching this top adventure trim in several Asia-Oceania markets already including Thailand, Vietnam, Australia, and New Zealand.

The Everest Wildtrak is heavily influenced by the Ranger Wildtrak and comes with a slew of design and styling enhancements such as the bumper H-bar, grille surround, wheel lip moldings, fender vents and mirror caps are all finished in Bolder Grey. It also gets unique Asphalt Black 20-inch alloy wheels and the option of a Luxe Yellow colorway—a shade once reserved for the Ranger Wildtrak.

Inside, the Everest Wildtrak gets Cyber Orange stitching on its seats, a soft-wrapped dashboard with an 8-inch digital cluster, a portrait-style 12-inch LED touchscreen with SYNC 4, 360-degree camera, and a panoramic sunroof. Creature comfort features all match the top-of-the-line Everest Titanium+.

The biggest question surrounds the powertrain.

In most other foreign markets, the Everest Wildtrak comes with the same powertrain combination found in the Everest Titanium+. This means a 2.0-liter bi-turbo 4-cylinder with 210 horsepower and 500 Nm. This is mated to a 10-speed automatic with Ford’s Terrain Management System. However, in Thailand (as well as Australia and New Zealand), there’s also the option for the 3.0-liter V6 turbo diesel. This one makes 250 horsepower and 600 Nm. It puts all that to the pavement via a 10-speed automatic with a full-time all-wheel drive system.

As for pricing, the Everest Wildtrak commands a slight premium over the Everest Titanium+. In Thailand, there’s a 25,000 Thai baht price bump (P 40,491). Considering the Everest Titanium+ 4x4’s P 2,525,000 price tag, this could put it toe-to-toe with the Fortuner GR Sport’s P 2,595,000 price tag.
