How’s this for a plot twist. It seems Daihatsu, and by extension, Toyota is extending the shelf life of its 7-seater small SUV with yet another update.
Shown first in its Daihatsu guise, the Terios gets some new styling and creature comfort enhancements.
The front-end has been refreshed with a smaller upper grille and a larger lower air intake. This has made the headlamp cluster and its signal light cutout (now smoked) look more prominent. The grille itself now has a new ornamental chrome pattern. Together with the new bumper, the carmaker also restyled the fog lamp housing. At the back, the Terios receives a new bumper design, while at each corner are new 17-inch alloy wheels.
Inside, new features soft padding to the instrument panel and the option of leather seats. New tech features include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, a 360-degree camera and a wireless device charger.
Mechanically, the Terios carries over its 1.5-liter 4-cylinder engine mated to a 4-speed automatic. The 2NR-VE engine still makes 103 horsepower and 134 Nm, but thanks to an idle start/stop feature, fuel economy has been improved.
Officially, there’s no word if and when Toyota will refresh the Rush. If it does, however, it’ll likely gain the same aesthetic changes found in the new Terios, baring some minor corporate styling differences.
