Hyundai PH Is First Automaker To Complete Modern PUV Certification

Hariphil Asia Resources, Inc. (HARI), the official distributor of Hyundai commercial vehicles, claims a double milestone with the addition of the Hyundai HD50S GT Modern PUV Class 4 to its model lineup.

With the granting of the Certificate of Compliance (COC) by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) last month, HARI becomes the first company to receive a COC for the said PUV category.

Under the Philippine National Standards or PNS, a Class 4 Modern PUV must have a maximum overall length of 7 meters, maximum width of 2.35 meters, and a minimum height of 1.75 meters. Designed for operation in unpaved roads, they have a 23-passenger seating capacity and no standing passengers are allowed. Each seat must have luggage compartments both overhead and underneath the seat. An outside cargo compartment must be present at the rear part of the Class 4 Modern PUV as well.

In 2019, HARI received the COC for its Modern PUVs Class 1 and 2 and in 2020 for the HD50S Class 3. By then, HARI already made news as the first in the industry to complete its line of government-certified modern PUVs (Class 1 to 3). With this latest certification for the HD50S Modern PUV Class 4, HARI again figures as the first in the country to offer a full line of vehicles that meet government standards, living up to its commitment as a staunch supporter of the PUV Modernization Program (PUVMP).

“Hyundai’s truck of all trades, the HD50S, does it again, this time to bring more value to our current Modern PUV fleet offerings. With its new body application, the HD50S Class 4 is intended to connect rural towns to larger cities. That is why it has provisions for cargo, as well as forward-facing seats for all passengers, and a side door entry for easy boarding and alighting. Of course, it is powered by an engine that is Euro-4 compliant and powerful enough to take on various road conditions,” said HARI President and CEO Maria Fe Perez-Agudo.

The acknowledged power, fuel-efficiency, toughness, space, comfort, safety, and reliable after-sales support (three-year warranty or 100,000 kilometers, whichever comes first) of the Hyundai HD50 Modern PUV make it the preferred vehicle for transport cooperatives in Regions 3, 5, and 7. It is also gaining fast-growing support from cooperatives in NCR and Region IV.

To date, HARI has sold close-to 800 units of the modern PUV, nationwide.

    1. this is more of a brand hate you have. Did a Hyundai model gapped you in the streets or something? that certificate denotes safety if reading comprehension isnt your forte.

  2. Interesting that MPUJ's of Isuzu and Hino don't have Certificate of Compliance when they're up and running for like 5 or 6 years in multiple routes nationwide.

    1. They do...but they don't have COC for Class 4. Seems Hyundai beat them to it.
