Toyota Adds Power, Tech To 2024 Fortuner

Toyota has updated its mid-sized 7-seater SUV, the Fortuner, for 2024. Just released in Thailand, it adds (depending on the variant) more power, tech, and safety features.

The biggest change goes to the top-of-the-line Fortuner GR Sport. For 2024, Toyota has given the 2.8-liter 1GD-FTV engine a power bump to 224 horsepower—a 20 horsepower bump. It also gets 550 Nm of torque—50 Nm more than previously.

More power aside, it also adds wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto to its 9-inch infotainment screen. For safety, it gets a Tire Pressure Monitoring System or TPMS as well.

Meanwhile, the Thai-market Fortuner Legender (local variant name: LTD) doesn’t get the added power, but gets the same update to the infotainment system together with wireless device charging and tire pressure sensors. On the other hand, the Fortuner Leader (non-LTD trims) only gets TPMS. They’ve also swapped out the Silver Sky Metallic (1D6) color for Silver Shimmering Metallic (1L0).

The updates may be minor, but the Fortuner gets a price increase across the range in Thailand. With this update, Thai buyers need to bay anywhere between THB 15,000 (P 24,000) to THB 40,000 (P 64,000) more.

If ever Toyota Motor Philippines does offer the same improvements to the Fortuner, expect them to be quietly brought in towards the end of this year.

    1. Betting 2025-2026. The last Hilux and Fortuner operated on a 10-year lifecycle so it is likely this will be the case. The Fortuner will be 10 years old by 2026 so expect that by that time, we will be seeing the 3rd-gen one riding on TNGA-F.

  3. Sir Uly, the wireless charger in the Legender/LTD model has been there since 2020 and in the GR Sport since 2021 so technically only the regular models aka the "Leader" model get it as a new feature for 2024.
