Ford Ranger Is 2023 International Pickup Truck Of The Year

The Ford Ranger and its mechanical twin, the Volkswagen Amarok share top honors as this year’s International Pick-Up of the Year (IPUA).

After arduous on- and off-roading testing by the IPUA jury (composed of journalists) in Greece earlier this year, the Ranger nabbed the IPUA crown for the third time. It is a record shared with the Amarok nameplate, though in its most current form, the Amarok is based off the Ranger.

According to Ford, the Ranger is their most global product, developed by designers and engineers in Ford’s Australian engineering center, built in six Ford factories across four continents, and loved by customers across the world. It is Europe’s top-selling pickup truck for the last eight years. In the Philippines, it is the second best-selling pickup truck and the best-selling 4x4 pickup truck.

The all-new model’s off-road ability, refined on-road performance, and unprecedented level of connectivity and technology make it popular with business and private users alike. Just recently, Ford also announced the Ranger PHEV.

Hans Schep, general manager of Ford Pro Europe said: “We are delighted that the Ford Ranger has been recognized by the IPUA jury for the third time, which is testament to its enduring appeal as Europe’s favorite pickup for the past eight years. The new Ford Ranger has the most comprehensive series choice yet, offering customers the on-road refinement and off-road capability to suit work days and weekends. It’s built ready for work and play.”
