Meet Foton's Largest Modern Jeepney: The F-Jeepney Class 3

For over half a century, jeepneys have been regarded as the local “kings of the road.” But time and the march of technology have caught up with them. This is why the government has embarked on a Public Utility Vehicle (PUV) Modernization Program—one that will continue the legacy of these road-going Philippine icons, but do so with more comfort, convenience, safety, and environment-friendliness.

Under the PUV Modernization Program, the government has come up with three classes of the so-called “modern jeepney,” with the largest one being the Class 3 Modern Jeepney. In support of the government program, and in line with its efforts to provide world-class dependable mobility to Filipinos, Foton Motor Philippines, Inc. (FMPI) developed and created the new F-Jeepney Class 3.

The 6-wheeler Foton F-Jeepney Class 3 offers bigger and more robust capabilities than most modern jeepneys. Designed to meet the transportation requirements of the commuting Filipinos, it upgrades the traditional Filipino jeepney with its spacious 26-passenger capacity powered by the proven 3.8-liter ISF Cummins common rail turbodiesel engine. It produces 154 horsepower and 500 Nm giving it extra muscle to move even when fully loaded.

The engine is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission for maximum drivability and fuel economy. Driving range is heavily extended, thanks to the large 120-liter fuel tank. Strong braking power comes from its air brakes equipped with an Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).

Boasting modern world-class technology, the F-Jeepney Class 3 meets modern transportation requirements, featuring an Automatic Fare Collection System for cashless transactions, WiFi connectivity, GPS Tracker, CCTV system, an LED TV screen, an electronic signage, and an emergency stop button with buzzer. The F-Jeepney Class 3 also complies with Philippine National Standard (PNS) 2126:2017 as well as Euro IV emission standards.

The F-Jeepney Class 3 provides extra comfort with its cushioned front-facing seats, easy-to-grip handrails, and highly effective air-conditioning system with multiple air vents. Even the driver has his share of creature comforts: adjustable steering wheel, power steering, power windows, central locking, remote key, radio audio system, and even a key-forgotten alarm.

Foton Motor Philippine Inc. is participating in the PUV Modernization Program in accordance with its commitment to support the growth and continued development of the automotive industry, its customers, and the rest of the stakeholders by offering high-quality vehicles to the market. It is also in line with Foton’s efforts to improve the local transportation system in multiple aspects.

  2. The modern jeepneys don't have the retro looks of the original Philippine jeepneys anymore.

  3. Retro jeepneys are pollutants, unsafe, jeepneys in cebu, iloilo, bacolod dont look the same as jeepney in ncr, but look like a toyota tamaraw. Old jeepney bad for health, you breathe all those smokes, dust in the road and accident prone.
