Nissan Commemorates Its 90th Anniversary With These Special Edition Models

In case you missed it, Nissan is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year and we don’t blame you for not noticing. The automaker (at least in the Philippines) isn’t making a big fuss over it, but as a reminder, Nissan was founded exactly on December 26, 1933.

As such, in Nissan’s home market of Japan, they’ve come up with a series of special commemorative vehicles to celebrate its 90th anniversary. Surprising enough, it was shown at the Japan Mobility Show that everyone, even those part of the Nissan delegation seemed to have missed.

The models—Sakura, Leaf, Note, Note Aura, Serena, X-Trail, and Kicks will go on sale in stages in Japan, starting on December 19. Sorry, no news on a special edition Nissan Z or GT-R.

Regardless of model, they will all have copper exterior accents, black side mirror caps, and special alloy wheels. Inside, they’ll have special floor mats with the 90th Anniversary emblem. Optional extras include a hood decal, door visors, and a license plate frame all sporting the same 90th Anniversary emblem.

Some of these models will offer greater differentiation than others. For example, in the Leaf, the seats will be adorned in a suede/leatherette combination which looks and feels like leather but is more durable and is water resistant. Others will have special copper stitching accentuating their synthetic leather or fabric seats.

It remains to be seen whether Nissan will offer the same 90th anniversary treatment for its vehicles in the Philippines. If ever, expect it to arrive sometime in 2024.
