Suzuki PH Confirms January 25 For Jimny 5-Door Release

The much-anticipated Suzuki Jimny 5-door may come with a more practical package, but that doesn’t seem to have affected its off-road prowess. Snapped undergoing final testing in Tanay, Rizal, the launch of the 5-door Jimny is getting very close.

Based on photos, the 5-door Jimny here looks to be in the Sizzling Red Metallic shade. And speaking of colors, there will be at least six colors on offer: Celestial Blue Pearl Metallic (a new shade) as well as Jungle Green, Granite Gray Metallic, and Artic White Pearl. Artic White Pearl won’t be available at launch, but will arrive by February or March at the latest. For those who want two-tone, it comes either in Sizzling Red Metallic or Chiffon Ivory Metallic.

In terms of variants, like the 3-door, two will be on offer for the Jimny 5-door: a GL in manual and a GLX in automatic. The GLX though comes in both single-tone and two-tone color combinations with the two-tone commanding a higher price tag.

Like the original 3-door Jimny, the Jimny 5-door is powered by the 1.5-liter K15B gasoline engine with 105 horsepower and 134 Nm of torque. It also keeps its manual transfer case as well as part-time four-wheel drive system (Suzuki AllGrip Pro 4WD) mated to either a 5-speed manual (GL) or 4-speed automatic (GLX).

Both will offer upgraded safety over the 3-door in the form of more airbags (six versus two) and electronic stability program with hill descent control, hill start assist, and a brake-based LSD traction control system. ABS with EBD remains as standard.

In terms of design, Jimny 5-door continues to get the same front fascia that is largely dominated by circular headlamps, a large multi-slot grille and a short bumper. The grille treatment itself is different from the 3-door in that there’s far more chrome elements now. The side profile too gets a similar stance and features clean cuts along with strong wheel arches. It even keeps the rear-mounted spare tire.

Separating the two variants, the GLX will get automatic LED headlights with a projector-type housing and body-colored door handles. Inside, no major changes between the variants—both will have a large touchscreen at the center with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as fabric seats. Features include automatic climate control, cruise control, all power amenities, and rear parking sensors with a back-up camera.

No official pricing has been revealed yet, but some dealers have posted the prices as follows:
  • P 1,558,000 for the Jimny 5-door GL MT
  • P 1,698,000 for the Jimny 5-door GLX AT
  • P 1,708,000 for the Jimny 5-door GLX AT Two-Tone
At these prices, the 5-door Jimny is roughly P 300,000 (P 378,000 for the GLX) more than its three-door equivalent. The launch though has been confirmed for January 25, 2024 with Suzuki Auto dealers nationwide now taking reservations.

  1. Are they also made in japan like the 3-door jimny?

  2. Ang mahal naman for an average-powered 5-seater mini offroad suv. Samantalang almost a decade ago, pwede ka nang maka-avail ng fj cruiser for below two-million petot.

  5. Grabe ang mahal. They're taking advantage of its appeal. Hmm.. to buy or not to buy..

  6. This makes more sense than the 3 door version usability wise. But the price is more tuned to cater enthusiasts. Those who have 3 or more cars already..

  7. A bargain considering this has the soul of a G Wagon when even an actual G Wagon doesn't.

  11. This Model Jimny 5Door is already Lost even before its official Launch date. Too much expensive. I guarantee this car won't last long in Suzuki showroom. See the 3Door lost its sales momentum because they increased the price by 200k.

    1. The resale value of this jimny is insane. You can sell it more than the original price you bought it.

  12. Too expensive for what it is. Only people with extra cash and hardcore offroaders/modders will be fooled by this. It's supposed to be the more practical version of the Jimny but at that price, hell no.

With that said, if I had the extra cash I'd rather take the original 3 door.

  13. Vs the all wheel drived comfortable and refined crosstrek with 280k discount

    1. Crosstrek is just a Impreza hatchback with higher ground clearance
Its not meant for 4X4 use.

  14. The price difference w/ the 3-door doesn't seem justified. And its still only accommodates 2 persons in the rear?

  15. Waste of money lol. You can buy any 4x4 powerful diesel pick-up truck with those prices or better more affordable. Most of them are in base model in MTs like the Hilux J, D-Max LT, Ranger XL, or the mid-variant Navara VE 4x4, but for a featured packed truck and an option for both MT and AT which is mostly preferred, you can go for a Navara VL

    1. These trucks cant go places the jimny can go bcoz of its small size and low weight.

    3. While the 5 door Jimny is a good mini suv with just average power to size ratio and decent specs, its asking price of P1.558M- P1.708M is just too expensive considering that in India it is just priced at R12.74 Lakh to R15.05 Lakh or Peso equivalent of P850, 000 to P1,003,000. Clearly the PH dealers are taking advantage of this mini SUV's seeming popularity to dictate such expensive prices considering that many also purchased its 3 door version at P1.258M- P1.330M. Those with deep pockets and enthusiasts can have them but for more practical buyers who demands value for their hard earned money, they have other options with better value and higher specifications for the money than what Suzuki PH is offering. Just my honest assessment.
