Toyota Motor PH Announces Recall On Raize, Avanza, Veloz Due To Potential Brake Issue

A total of 10,975 Toyota Raize, Avanza, and Veloz models are affected by a recall in the Philippines due to an issue that surrounds the disc brake cylinder slide pin boot.

The recall is not safety related, but rather part of a customer satisfaction campaign. The affected units are as follows:
  • Toyota Raize (4,345 units) produced from September 12, 2022 to January 13, 2023
  • Toyota Avanza (3,119 units) produced from September 12, 2022 to December 11, 2022
  • Toyota Veloz (3,511 units) produced from September 12, 2022 to December 13, 2022
Due to an assembly fault at the brake caliper assembly line, the assembly tools interfered with the slide pin boots during assembly. This can cause damage to the pin boot. If the water enters in the slide pin boots, it can cause rust which may lead to the early wear of the brake pads.

To remedy the situation, Toyota will replace the front disc brake cylinder slide, and if necessary, replace the brake cylinder mounting at no charge to vehicle owners.

  1. Same as Daihatsu Japan, kaya medyo iba yung sinabi ni Toyota na kaya daw magkaiba kesyo di naman gawa sa japan kundi sa indonesia kaya safe at walang issue eh ayan meron naman pala.

  3. How is it not safety related if it will cause premature wear to one of the major components of a car's safety: the brakes ???

    1. Recall in the auto industry are normal occurence even in europe and USA to correct defects for car buyers protection. never heard of china car brands recall, they just let car buyers go into accidents.

    2. I’m just here with my popcorn to see what the “Toyota” (Daihatsu) fanboys have to say. Watching their superiority complex crumble is quite the sight to behold.

  6. I also read another recall on the Avanza and Veloz (Raize not included) where Toyota will add additional welds to the door/side structure and add additional bracing. Is this confirmed?

    1. This is a Toyota issue (More like a Daihatsu issue, but Toyota have only themselves to blame for branding these things as Toyotas in the first place), but here you are trying to deflect the issue to Chinese cars. Just enjoy your Daihatsu and leave the other unrelated parties alone, don’t go dragging them along with you. I swear, Pinoys and their crab mentality.

    2. Recall awareness are for every body, car buyers has the right to knew if a car companies are responsible, pro active or dont care about car buyers safety that bought its products.

    3. There's nothing wrong with recalls. Recalls, in my opinion, should be seen as a positive, rather than a negative. It shows that brands stand behind their products for the long haul. My problem with the initial comment is the deflection. This is an article about a Toyota recall, yet an unrelated party (Chinese cars) gets dragged into the fray for no apparent reason. It's just straight up petty, if you ask me.

    4. it should be, forum here is sharing much information(negative or positive) to car buyers to have an informed choice. Nothing wrong here sharing info that at least here in ph china car brands never issued recall. Dont knew bout you, but here in ph we have freedom of speech.

  11. I don't get how this is only considered part of a customer satisfaction campaign :/

If I'm one of the owners I'd prefer this to be called a safety recall, at least that sounds more serious like "We seriously want to fix your vehicle" ganun....

Pano pag walang campaign in the first place? :/

    1. A customer satisfaction campaign is different from a special service campaign.

A customer satisfaction campaign would normally mean it's time-bound. In this case, customers have until 2027 to complete the necessary work FOC. After that, it'll be treated as a regular repair. These would not affect the overall safety of the vehicle but may affect the ownership experience.

If it's a special service campaign (i.e. Takata airbag recall), the duration spans the entire life of the car. It affects the safety and/or operation of the vehicle.
