2024 Jaecoo 7 Boasts Of Global 5-Star Safety Standard Construction

Set to be launched at the Manila International Auto Show in April, Jaecoo has revealed that its first Philippine model—the J7—has met global 5-star safety standards.

Although the J7 has yet to be tested by any NCAP authority, Jaecoo is confident in the safety performance of its off-road-centric compact SUV. It attributes the J7’s stellar performance down to its “caged body construction” which makes it lightweight, yet strong, enveloping passengers in a “steel cocoon” (the brand’s words, not ours).

The J7 has large-scale dual-impact beams that nearly span the entire front of the vehicle, maximizing passenger protection. Furthermore, the body frame itself features five vertical and three horizontal cross members that form multiple collision force channels to distribute the forces of a crash.

In terms of body composition, Jaecoo says the J7 is made of 80 percent high-strength steel, with a roof that can withstand nearly eight tons of static weight without deformation. Meanwhile, the door frames use integrated composite stamping that enhances structural integrity against side impacts.

Beyond its strong body, the Jaecoo 7 has 10 airbags, a 360-degree camera, and a myriad of sensors including two millimeter-wave radars and long-range millimeter wave radar.

The radar system also supports the J7’s standard ADAS or Advanced Driver Assistance System. It has nearly 20 functions such as BSD (Blind Spot Detection), AEB (Active Emergency Braking), DOW (Door Opening Warning), RCTA (Rear Cross Traffic Alert), LKA (Lane Keeping Assist), IES (Intelligent Evasion System for Large Vehicles), ELK (Emergency Lane Keeping), RCW (Rear Collision Warning), TSR (Traffic Sign Recognition), and ICA (Integrated Cruise Assist).

Omoda and Jaecoo will hold their brand launch at the Manila International Auto Show from April 4 to 7., 2024.
