Honda HR-V: The Sub-Compact SUV Made Safer

Sub-compact SUVs are a dime a dozen nowadays. In fact, apart from those that we already know, there are even more that are entering the category as we speak. Ultimately, this undeniable influx begs the question – is there even a difference anymore between all the brands that are currently on the table? The answer is simple. The difference lie in a dedication to consistently delivering the best product, with an undeniable commitment to innovation that goes with it.

This is what Honda has always stood for – and still does. This is why the Honda HR-V is not only created to be a contender in the sub-compact SUV class, it is also designed to be the perfect mobility partner that goes the distance, in every way possible. Apart from being packed with all the right features that make your daily commute easy and smooth, it is made for moving those that are most important to you – your family and the people closest to your heart.

First and foremost, like any Honda, the HR-V is made to perform. It is equipped with a 1.5 DOHC i-VTEC engine that is designed for quick, smooth acceleration. Mated to a CVT transmission, you can count on just the right power output without compromising fuel efficiency. This ensures that you are getting the most value out of your HR-V, while still experiencing all the excitement and thrill that you would expect from a Honda.

Performance, however, means nothing without the right safety suite to complement all that power. Over generations, Honda has put a premium on delivering some of the safest vehicles in the world, built on real-world research and data. Today, the brand is driven by its global safety philosophy, “Safety For Everyone.” This is founded on Honda’s commitment to a collision-free society by making mobility safe for all of humanity.

In line with this, Honda Sensing is now a standard in most Honda vehicles, including the HR-V. As Honda’s very own Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), Honda Sensing was developed from the in-depth study of what causes fatal on-road accidents, which are primarily vehicles that stray from the correct lanes, resulting in collisions with either other cars or, worse, pedestrians.

Here are some of the key features that are built into Honda’s most advanced safety suite to date:

Collision Mitigation Braking

With traffic inevitably flowing from slow to speed at any given time, this feature includes visual and audio sensor warnings that are designed to warn the driver of possible front collision. In cases where the situation gets too close for comfort, the system will take over, immediately applying the brakes when necessary.

Lane Keep Assist

Long drives can be exhausting and often result in the driver developing tunnel vision along the way. To bring him back into focus, Honda Sensing’s Lane Keep Assist helps to keep the car in the center of the lane by sending an audible alert to bring him back to attention.

Road Departure Mitigation System

In more drastic cases of lane departure, this special feature in the Honda Sensing suite that includes Lane Departure Warning sends steering wheel vibrations and visual warnings to the driver. If corrective action is not taken, the system provides a gentle steering assist to bring the vehicle back and keep it in the center of its lane.

 Lead Car Departure Notification

In a city where stop-and-go traffic is the norm, spacing out while crawling at a snail’s pace is inevitable. At times, the car ahead of you may have already started to move and you would have been too distracted to notice. Honda Sensing will send an alert when the lead car has already moved ahead, jolting the driver back into the right frame of mind.

Adaptive Cruise Control

Road trips are the latest in travel trends and can be an enjoyable past time, especially for driving enthusiasts. Honda Sensing features Adaptive Cruise Control that helps the driver maintain the right speed for every kind of highway. In addition, it includes Low-Speed Follow, an option that follows the speed of the car ahead, making it perfect for stop-and-go traffic or in keeping up with a convoy.

Auto High-Beam

Visibility is the most important factor in keeping nighttime commutes safe. With Honda’s Auto High-Beam feature, a sensor automatically flips on the car’s high beams with the visibility on the road goes down. It also adjusts the beam when oncoming vehicles are detected that help to avoid blinding other drivers on the road.

Honda has developed one of the most advanced and responsive safety suites in the world, packing it neatly into one of its proudest creations. With the integration of Honda Sensing, the Honda HR-V is not only a beautifully designed car, it is also a well-rounded, practical, and functional sub-compact SUV that can safely transport your life from milestone to milestone.
