Honda NSX Owned By Ayrton Senna Goes On Sale For P 35.766M

A Honda NSX that belonged to legendary Formula 1 driver Ayrton Senna is going on sale this week on the UK’s largest automotive marketplace, Auto Trader.

Cars with such pedigree are typically sold through the major auction houses, but the NSX’s current owner, Robert McFagan, wanted to sell it via the British classifieds website. It’s listed with a sale price of £ 500,000 British pounds (approximately P 35.766 million).

That’s quite a premium considering a similar NSX would go for 80 percent less.

McFagan said he picked up the car in 2013 during a trip to Portugal’s Algarve region. This red NSX is one of three examples driven regularly by Senna It was first registered in 1991 and used by the triple F1 world champion when he was in Portugal. Senna, who drove for McLaren at the time, also had two other NSXs—both black. One was in Brazil, while the other also in Portugal.

Senna was regularly spotted with the red NSX when he was in Portugal, and the car also featured in the 1992 Senna documentary, “Racing Is in My Blood.” It has just 39,100 miles on the odometer (62,925 kilometers), and McFagan is thought to be only the second owner.

The original NSX has a deep connection with Ayrton Senna. Senna was part of the NSX program and lent many hours of his time so the NSX would become the fantastic driving machine it proved to be. He convinced the engineers to further stiffen the chassis, relayed his feedback about the suspension tuning, and pushed the car hard at several tracks, including the Nürburgring.

Considered one of the sport’s greatest drivers of all time, Ayrton Senna dominated the Formula One scene in the late 80s and early 90s, winning a total of 41 races and achieved a hattrick of world titles with McLaren. Senna tragically lost his life at Imola during the San Marino Grand Prix on May 1, 1994. However, his legacy continues to live on, with many in his home country of Brazil still adoring him and a critically acclaimed film depicting his life being released in 2010.
