Will We See A New Entry-Level Lexus NX Variant In 2026?

Lexus is making changes to its best-selling NX premium compact SUV on both ends of the variant range, introducing a new entry-level as well expanding its top-of-the-line trims.

Just announced for the U.S. market, with good chances of arriving in the Philippines, the 2026 Lexus NX adds a new front-wheel drive variant to the NX 350h range.

The A25A-FXS 2.5-liter 4-cylinder makes 190 horsepower and 239 Nm of torque on its own. It’s further supplemented by a 136-horsepower front permanent magnet synchronous motor. In the case of the all-wheel drive variant, it adds a 40-horsepower rear motor. Regardless of the number of driven wheels, peak outputs remain at 243 horsepower.

That said, the front-wheel drive version increases its 0 to 100 km/h time by a second to 8.2 seconds compared to the all-wheel drive while squeezing out a 1 km/L improvement be it in the city, highway, or combined.

On the flipside, the F Sport package is now available in conjunction with the hybrid powertrain.

Once available only to the NX 350 F Sport—the only non-hybrid NX available with a 2.4-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine (279 horsepower and 430 Nm)—the F Sport gets a bolder look with its unique grille, color-keyed over fenders, 20-inch black alloy wheels, and black roof rails.

Further adding some credence to that sporty look is the availability of a handling upgrade courtesy of Active Variable Suspension (AVS) with tuned front and rear shock absorbers.

Inside, the F Sport gets Dark Graphite Aluminum ornamentation, a unique cluster meter, bolstered sport seats, sport steering wheel, aluminum pedals, and scuff plates set it apart. The trim is finished in black and Circuit Red NuLuxe which have been integrated on the seats, steering wheel, and center console.

These new variants to the Lexus NX are already on sale in the U.S. It will likely make its way to other markets, possibly in the Philippines.

The likely scenario would be for Lexus Philippines to turn their NX 350h Executive to a front-wheel drive variant, while adding a new, better equipped all-wheel drive variant to slot between that and the NX 350h Premier (there’s a sizeable P 1,070,000 gap after all). The brand will also likely discontinue the non-hybrid NX 350 F Sport in favor of bringing in the NX 350h F Sport with a lower price tag than the current P4,878,000.

  1. Bring back the regular door handles and ordinary tires. The new door handles and run flat tires sucks.

    1. Yes. We don't need those flush door handles nor the Lexus e-latch door. Just a simple one that works will do.

  2. Also, please bring back spare tires. We need those in case of emergency.
