Shell Pilipinas Corporation has brought the Shell Mekaniko League 2025 to a close, marking a milestone in the country’s automotive industry. For the first time, Shell united car and motorcycle experts under one national platform, creating Shell’s largest mechanic competition with more than 2,000 participants from 26 provinces.
From its kickoff in March to the Grand Finale at Le Pavillon in Pasay City, the league swept across the country with 20 Shell Advance Masters regional runs for motorcycle mechanics and six Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champions runs for car mechanics.
The Mekaniko League was designed not only to celebrate skill but also to uplift livelihoods. At every stage, participants joined Shell-led training and TESDA-certified modules that prepared them for NC I and NC II certifications, strengthening their credentials and opening doors to greater opportunities. The semi-finals tested mechanics through written exams, parts identification, and live repair challenges, rigorous trials that mirrored real-world scenarios. Semi-final winners each took home P 50,000 and advanced to the Grand Finale.
Charlie Sandoval shines as the 2025 National Champion of the Shell Advance Masters. Flanking him in celebration are Norman Cabal (2nd Place), Joefel Foronda (3rd Place), Joevanne Sayat (4th Place), and Allen Kenneth Rañon (5th Place), representing the country’s finest motorcycle mechanics.
At the Finals, champions from across the country faced off in a showdown of talent and determination. In the end, Quezon City representative Mark Anthony Calimag was crowned the 2025 National Champion for Shell Helix Auto Mekaniko Champions, while Charlie Sandoval from Caloocan City was named the 2025 National Champion for Shell Advance Masters. Each champion received P 200,000 and an all-expenses-paid trip to Malaysia to witness MotoGP, together with the other finalists.
In addition, the Top 5 car mechanics and Top 3 motorcycle mechanics also earned the chance to join the champions on this MotoGP experience, underscoring Shell’s commitment to giving Filipino mechanics opportunities to learn and be inspired on a global stage.
What began in 2024 with just five regional runs has, in a single year, grown into a nationwide movement that celebrates Filipino mechanics while ensuring they are equipped with training and recognition that last beyond the competition.
“The Mekaniko League is one of Shell Pilipinas’ key programs that highlights the skills and dedication of Filipino mechanics,” said Jackie Famorca, Vice President and General Manager for Lubricants at Shell Pilipinas Corporation. “Through our partnership with TESDA, we are equipping them with the right training and tools to help them adapt to the ever-evolving auto industry.”
“Seeing the passion and dedication of our mechanics is inspiring. Programs like the Mekaniko League promote the growth of the auto industry in the country, and Shell has always been a reliable partner in this effort. That’s why TESDA fully supports initiatives like this that uplift and train Filipino talent,” said Brian Landicho, TESDA Competency Assessor for Small Engine Servicing NC2.
The Shell Mekaniko League goes hand in hand with Shell’s broader initiatives to empower mechanics through hands-on training and TESDA partnerships for industry certification, ensuring that every customer they serve gets home safe and sound, with vehicles expertly maintained using superior Shell Helix and Shell Advance engine oils. Beyond training and rewards, Shell’s vision is to celebrate the expertise and world-class talent of Filipino mechanics and strengthen its connection with the community by recognizing their role in the industry and their importance to everyday life.
