The Mitsubishi Elevance Concept Wants To Make Every Road Trip Into A Glamping Adventure

Mitsubishi is rekindling the spirit of adventure with the Elevance Concept—an electrified crossover SUV concept that hopes to reignite the wonder of exploration by integrating the brand’s electrification and all-wheel control technologies.

The Elevance Concept features a plug-in hybrid powertrain with a large-capacity traction battery for power, turning any destination to a possible glamping retreat. Meanwhile, its quad-motor four-wheel drive system enables Mitsubishi’s signature Super All-Wheel Control (S-AWC) providing surefootedness across diverse driving scenarios. The in-wheel motors enable the precise control of traction to each individual wheel, on- or off-road. The crossover SUV even extends to a trailer powered by the PHEV system. It’s equipped with a kitchen and shower enclosure for a luxurious on-the-road experience.

Underneath, a robust body structure is assured with the rib-bone frame concept. The ring-shaped frame structure promises exceptional rigidity.

Built on top of that is an evolved interpretation of Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield design. The honeycomb-structured grille evokes both sophistication and power, while the body is imposing. The side windows, which dip below the character line, means passengers can enjoy the scenery even when in motion.

Inside, the Elevance Concept’s instrument panel and door trim have been molded down to the floor in a seamless, shell-like form. The instrument panel features a large-screen monitor that fully extends from the driver’s side to the passenger side, giving the driver an intuitive view of front blind spots and other areas around the vehicle that are not normally visible.

The Elevance has a the three-row, six-passenger seating layout offering spacious interior room that allows family and friends to travel in comfort even when loaded up with luggage. The high-quality leather seats cradle everyone snugly for a comfortable ride, even when spending long hours on the road.

The Elevance Concept also introduces the AI Co-Driver. Displayed on the LCD screen embedded in the steering wheel and instrument panel, it offers personalized destination suggestions tailored to individual lifestyles and preferences. It also uses AI technology to analyze surrounding conditions and vehicle status in real time, recommending optimal drive modes based on road conditions detected by the sensors. This enhances safety and provides a more confident, reassuring driving experience.

  1. Mitsubishi can release and produce so many concept cars but cannot change their more than a decade old mirage

    1. Bringing change to their cheapest car (that sells well) comes with risks. It's easier to take chances with completely new releases than reworking existing models (in construction terms, it's easier/cheaper to build from scratch than to renovate).

    2. If Nissan has a small car like the Mirage maybe Mitsubishi can borrow and use it; like for the Nissan Micra.
