Geely shuffled its feet for most of 2025. After they had gained official control of operations in the Philippines, only one all-new car was introduced, (they did refresh the Coolray, Emgrand, and Okavango) and there wasn’t much activity with the cars aside from the usual mall displays. All that is about to change.
First to arrive will be the new Geely Starship 7 (also known as the EX5 EM-i) compact crossover at Q1 2026. It’s a plug-in hybrid that will go head-to-head against the BYD Sealion 6 and the Ford Territory. Range is slated to be better at up to 1,400 kilometers combined depending on the battery pack as Geely promises a “class-leading” hybrid system.
Next is a smaller EV in the Geely EX2. This is a small hatchback EV that is poised to go against the Seagull and Dolphin. Power ranges from 78 to 114 horsepower, depending on the trim, and is also available with Level 2 Advanced Driving Assist System. What’s unique here is the placement of the electric motor at the rear axle, instead of the usual front. The “Xingyuan” as it is called in China, is expected in Q2 2026.
Then, after much consideration, Geely will finally bring in the Monjaro midsize SUV to the Philippines in the third quarter. They promise it will have a luxurious cabin, superior handling, leading range, and five-star safety suite. Making it distinct from the Okavango is the Monjaro’s plug-in hybrid powertrain that is rated to go around 1,200 kilometers in one full tank and charge.
In the fourth quarter, Geely is introducing a pair of sedans that will compete against the heavy weights in the segment. First is the Geely version of the Proton Saga, currently codenamed “AMA01.” Proton is a Malaysian automaker that has a technical partnership with Geely. This is why the Proton Saga is using the Advanced Modular Architecture, hence why they can bring it in the country. It will be an ICE model that will compete against the Mitsubishi Mirage G4 and Toyota Vios.
The second sedan that they’ll introduce in Q4 is the electrified version of the Emgrand. It will go against the likes of the BYD Seal 5 DM-i and the recently-launched Toyota Ativ.
With these new models, Geely is projecting to hit retail sales of more than 7,000 vehicles putting them within the Top 10 best-selling automotive brands, and the second among Chinese brands.
And coinciding with their product blitz, Geely is also expanding their dealership network to more than 40 by the end of 2026. Some of those planned include Laoag, Caloocan, North EDSA, BGC, Pasay City, Las Pinas City, Isabela, Cainta, Naga, Calamba, Sto. Tomas Batangas, Batangas City, Dumaguete, Davao, and General Santos.
