BYD Cars Philippines Sold 26,122 Vehicles In 2025; Distributorship With ACMobility Renewed

BYD Cars Philippines, a subsidiary of ACMobility, concluded 2025 with its strongest performance to date. The brand recorded 26,122 units in retail sales, making it the fastest-growing automotive brand in the country. The 446 percent year-on-year increase in volume solidifies BYD’s position as the leader in the New Energy Vehicle (NEV) market.

While BYD is not a member of CAMPI, its impressive 2025 sales puts it in third place (based on year-to-date November 2025 figures of CAMPI members) ahead of Ford (20,007 YTD November), Suzuki (19,982 YTD November), and Nissan (19,225 YTD November) and just behind Toyota (205,552 YTD November) and Mitsubishi (79,252 YTD November). CAMPI has yet to reveal the full 2025 sales figure of all the brands.

This momentum was fueled by high consumer demand across the brand's diverse lineup. The BYD Seagull leads the brand’s 4,608 BEV (battery electric vehicle) sales as the top-selling vehicle, while the Sealion 6 DM-i led the brand's DM-i range, reflecting a growing Filipino preference for sustainable mobility.

“2025 marked a significant milestone in the advancement and broader adoption of New Energy Vehicles in the country,” said Bob Palanca, Managing Director of BYD Cars Philippines. “BYD’s strong growth underscores our sustained commitment to democratizing electrified mobility. It demonstrates that when innovation is paired with accessibility, the market responds positively. We remain firmly focused on making electric vehicles attainable for Filipino households nationwide.”

Building on this success, BYD and ACMobility have officially renewed their distribution partnership for passenger cars in the Philippines, reaffirming a long-term commitment to the Philippine market. The alliance, which began in August 2023, assures a steady pipeline of innovative technologies backed by a comprehensive ecosystem of charging infrastructure and aftersales support. This strategic foundation paved the way for BYD’s rapid expansion across the country. By the end of 2025, the brand achieved its target of 79 operational dealerships nationwide, a massive increase from just 25 locations at the close of 2024.

Moving forward, both companies remain focused on scaling their network and enhancing the ownership experience for the thousands of Filipinos now choosing the BYD brand.

“These milestones are a clear signal of our unwavering, long-term commitment to the Philippine market,” says Adam Hu, Country Head of BYD Philippines. “Together with ACMobility, we are committed to fueling this momentum and making new energy vehicles the standard, not the exception, for Filipino drivers.” added Hu.

  1. Very good. Actual units sold to car buyers or number of units sold/delivered to dealerships?

    1. Carguide looked at LTO registrations in an article in August last year to see how brands like BYD were doing.

For the first 7 months of 2025 (end of July) there were almost 12000 New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) registered MORE than CAMPI reports.

If you assume that's mostly BYD then that means BYD sold more units in the last 5 months of the year (14k+, Aug to Dec) than the first 7 months to reach 26k+. That's probably helped by all the new dealerships that opened later in the year.

  2. Would BYD have enough service bays:center to handle such volume? Hmmm

    1. Of course they can. Toyota ph able to service 200k vehicles sold every year. A million toyotas to service just from 2021-2025. So Ac Byd with 79 dealerships surely can do it ✔️

  3. Quite annoying that BYD can't even provide the exact sales figures for the Sealion 6. How difficult is it to make a per-model sales breakdown?!

    3. The only way they would reveal the breakdown of their total sales is by joining CAMPI.

  4. It all makes sense now why byd is bringing in their more premium brand, denza.. while pinoy id*ots keep mocking chinese brands, they did not notice them rising up like a rocket to the top. Congrats BYD! Looking forward on the b5 and the b8! It'll shake the car industry for sure.

  5. Tesla reported 2200+ sales near end of December. At 4608, this means BYD more than doubled their sales. That's a huge gap.

  6. With their good sales momentum, I can see a large-enough population of cars needing after-sales support and a fairly robust parts pipeline, which inspires confidence in owning one myself. That SL6 has been waving at me for months now and my defenses are crumbling.

I'm quite a fan of Hyundai and that explains my hesitation. However, their local showroom hardly has any cars on display. I believe the first rule of selling is putting the product in front of the customer itself. So what is the point of spending rent on a place you're not putting product on? That is just one aspect I'm rationalizing why Hyundai is not breaking through. There are many more, I'm sure. With BYD blowing nearly every player out of the water in such a short time, I think Hyundai (or insert your preferred brand here) needs to double down and reach the customer as well as BYD does.

    1. Article says they sold 4,608 BYD Seagulls in 2025. Tesla on the other hand sold around 2,000 units in 2025. So BYD sold more Seagulls than the entire Tesla Philippines line up last year. That doesn't include the sales figures for the other BEVs in BYD's line up.

    2. @JC

I think the article is saying that the Seagull is the highest seller within the total 4,608. I think the 4,608 means all BEV sales na.

    3. You read the article wrong. BYD Philippines did not sell that many Seagulls, they sold that many BEVs. Here's the direct quote: The BYD Seagull leads the brand’s 4,608 BEV (battery electric vehicle) sales as the top-selling vehicle...

  14. I can only imagine the sales of other china brands combined. These figures surely hurt the sales of japanese brands bigtime. What more in the coming years. China cars is the future. Lets deal with it. No stopping it regardless of what brand loyals suggest..

  15. Reuters news: Byd December 2025 global sales downed 18.3% vs December 2024, the biggest dropped in 5 years. Pabagsak ng Pabagsak sales ng byd sa china bistado na kasi quality ng cars nila doon. Dito bago pa byd di pa bistado, let’s see once the hype is gone.

    1. "bistado ang quality" kung totoo man dpat after first year plg drop na agad ang sales. Face it nlng po, if not the best quality, pasado na for the millions na bumili.

Looking at the total global sales numbers for the whole year; 4.55 million in 2025 vs 4.25 million in 2024. That doesn't look bad to me.

    2. BYD mainly rely now on overseas sales just like what GM,Toyota and Volkswagen groups are doing.
Sales of BYD in China are down due to popularity of Geely EX2 and PHEV version of Geely EX5 in China.

    3. "dropped", "downed"? LOL

  16. A breakdown of sales for every model would have been nice. I would really like to know how many Seagulls (their best-selling BEV) were sold locally.

    2. Well, we are not in china. Here in ph we have freedom of SPECS๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…. Secrecy breeds suspicion and maybe anomalies. Ano ba yang ebinigay ACbyd na sales figure, total sales ba yan from ACbyd to dealerships? Actual sales to car buyers? Bloated ba yan with zero mileage?

    3. Daming allegations...parang hindi pansin ang lahat ng cars nila sa mga kalsada. Hopefully carguide does another check of the total LTO registrations for 2025 compared to CAMPI sales para ma satisfy itong mga conspiracy pipol. lol
