Nissan Philippines Sold Almost As Much Z Sportscars As Subaru Did As A Brand In Q1 2026

Nissan held steady as the country’s fourth best-selling nameplate after recording a total of 4,634 units sold in the first quarter of 2026. Before the mad rush this second quarter—where a quartet of new electrified offerings are on the table, the carmaker gladly broke down their best-selling models in their stable.

The brand’s performance was driven by continued demand in the pickup and mid-size SUV segments. The Navara sold 1,268 units, while the Terra sold 1,250 units. These two combined already accounted for 54 percent of all of Nissan Philippines’ sales in the first quarter.

Surprisingly, the third best-selling model is the Livina. The MPV still moved 746 units (16 percent) despite being relatively unchanged since its launch in 2023. This is a remarkable 5 percent year-on-year increase.

Nissan also saw notable growth in other models, signaling positive momentum in both premium and lifestyle-oriented segments. The Nissan Patrol posted a 270 percent year-on-year increase with 322 units sold (6.9 percent), while the Nissan Z recorded an 808 percent increase with 109 units (2.3 percent) sold.

By inference, the Almera sold 303 units for the first quarter as it is the only remaining passenger car model that Nissan Philippines sold in the first quarter of 2026.

Despite the Kicks e-Power being in “depletion mode,” it managed to sell 233 units for the first three months of 2026. 133 of them were in March alone—a 171 percent month-on-month increase.

Market challenges notwithstanding, Nissan also managed to enhance its service and accessibility with new dealerships opened in Calamba, Laguna and San Jose del Monte, Bulacan. Another dealership located in Santa Rosa, Laguna will open soon.

Looking ahead to the Philippine International Motor Show, Nissan Philippines is gearing up to introduce a new wave of electrified models—the new Kicks e-Power, the X-Trail e-Power, the Primera EV, and the Frontier Pro PHEV.

    1. Diesel sucks. Expensive PMS, and that damn EGR among others. Fuel efficiency is overrated. People also think they are fast but its just the push of the torque giving you false confidence, hence the numerous PPV kamotes on the road. Plus the volatile diesel prices... Who in their right mind would buy Diesel now

Well you're not wrong. A lot would still buy diesel indeed! The reason? It may be because of the discussion below:

Based on the 2024 Functional Literacy, Education, and Mass Media Survey (FLEMMS) presented in April 2025, the Philippines is experiencing a significant education crisis, with a large portion of the population considered functionally illiterate or having low education quality.

24.8 Million Functionally Illiterate: About 24.8 million Filipinos aged 10 to 64 cannot read, write, compute, and comprehend a simple story, meaning they cannot apply basic literacy skills in daily life.

5.8 Million Basically Illiterate: Among this group, approximately 5.8 million people are considered "basically illiterate," meaning they cannot read or write at all.

High School Graduates Without Basic Skills: Around 18.9 million junior and senior high school graduates from 2019 to 2024 are deemed functionally illiterate.

1 in 5 Graduates Struggle: The PSA found that 21% of senior high school graduates in 2024 are not functionally literate, meaning one in five graduates cannot fully comprehend a simple story.

    3. The smog comment shows how old your ideas are from. China invested hard into renewables and EV more than 15 years ago now. People who visited 15 years ago and then visited again recently can tell you how big of a difference there is. There's still a lot of pollution from industry but those are far removed from the big cities.

Surprise, surprise. People was still buying Livina. I've rarely see Livina or Z on the road. But of course, Livina looks like Xpander from afar if the logo is too far to be noticeable. Z is not a common road car so aside from the highways and BGC, it is not likely to be seen. There are more Patrols sold over the Almera. This is bad. As there is poor competition to the Vios. The Navara/Terra platform is old but it is still giving Nissan the numbers to make it to Top 4. Hopefully the 4 incoming model come in quickly in few months. Introducing new model/facelift is one weakness of Nissan as I have observed through time. As the marque is struggling globally, speed is of essence.
