Ever since the sudden increase in fuel prices, hybrids have been catapulted to the very top of new car buyers' considerations. What used to be a struggle for most has allowed smaller brands to take advantage of the new car-buying trend.
During the 2026 Manila International Auto Show (MIAS), Great Wall Motors (GWM) previewed an upcoming model that was vital to the brand's growth in the Philippines. The Haval H7 is set to be the brand's most affordable SUV that comes with hybrid power, and it is now officially launched and on sale.
Playing it smart, GWM recognizes the need for a flexible powertrain and is offering the H7 with 2 hybrid options, a normal HEV, and for the higher variants, PHEV capabilities. One advantage of the PHEV models is the DC fast charging aspect for added convenience. There are three variants of the H7 for the Philippines: 2WD HEV, 2WD PHEV, and 4WD PHEV. All cars come standard with a 1.5-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder each with different hybrid systems.
The entry-level HEV variant has a combined output of 247 horsepower and 540 Nm of torque, while the mid-variant 2WD PHEV has more output at 326 horsepower and 105 kilometers of full EV range. Last but not least is the top-spec 4WD PHEV that has 364 horsepower courtesy of a dual-motor system; it also has a massive 760 Nm of torque, but the full EV range is less at just 91 kilometers. All variants of the H7 come with GWM’s patented Dedicated Hybrid Transmission (DHT).
In terms of dimensions, the H7 is sizeable, measuring 4,800 mm (length), 1,950 mm (width), and 1,843 mm (height). The 2WD models have 200 mm of ground clearance, with the 4WD variant coming in with 210 mm. Looks-wise, the H7’s design closely resembles the H9, so much so that it's hard to tell both apart, with the only telltale signs being the size difference. The H7 comes in a choice of 3 exterior colors: Iceberg White, Midnight Black, and Stealth Grey.
Creature comforts are almost standard across all models; all variants come with leather-wrapped steering wheels with controls plus tilt and telescopic functions. A 12.3-inch digital display is used as the instrument cluster, while a 15.6-inch touchscreen Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto make up the infotainment system. A 50-watt wireless charging pad is also available across the lineup. A key difference is that the 4WD comes with a HUD and an off-road information display.
Where the major differences lie come in the inclusion (or lack thereof) of ADAS systems and features. The 2WD variants make do with standard cruise control only, while the top-of-the-line model comes with intelligent cruise control, lane departure warning, lane keeping assist, traffic jam assist, and many more.

Downside -
Vehicle Exterior Lights is On-Screen activation. Best to leave it on Auto Mode so one does not need to go to the On-Screen menu to turn on the exterior lights.
No Remote Start. Hopping that it may come as an OTA Update.

ReplyDeleteH7 and B5 have a different customer profile. Pricing and positioning-wise, GWM is going for Jetour's T1 PHEV intenders (particularly their 4x4 PHEV variant).
DeleteDenzas is a flops. No one will buy it at that price point. Lots of other Chinese alternatives available that have same and even better specs at much lower prices.

This figure has already exceeded Volvo’s average annual volume (around 150–200 units) and surpassed Mercedes-Benz’s total sales last year (500+ units). If you check CAMPI’s published reports online, even BMW’s YTD volume is only around 300+ units, while Lexus, currently the No. 1 brand in the luxury segment, is at around 400+ units. So, by that same logic, are these brands also considered a “flop”?

Well, there are only around 600 Denzas currently on the road, compared to roughly 3 million vehicles in NCR. Given that ratio, the probability of randomly seeing one is naturally close to zero (for now). Calling a brand a “flop” should be backed by actual data. If there’s any other data that supports your argument, I’d be more than willing to look at it.

I concur with others here that the B5 and H7 Hi4 4WD PHEV have different markets.
ReplyDeleteI've had my H7 4WD for more than 3 weeks now. It's spacious & comfortable, rides well, AC is more than adequate, provides decent fuel economy considering it has a 4WD Mode, and is a heavy vehicle.
I like the high driving position, 210mm ground clearance, 600mm wading depth & an actual spare tire (instead of a Tire Repair Kit)
I'm wishing for a Remote Start OTA Upgrade, Step-board for my family members & passengers under 5'8", and an add on button or switch along the side of the Drive Mode Knob that will instantly bring up the exterior light selection on the Infotainment screen.
Would I rather have a B5? Of course, but would not be willing to add P1.8+M for it!
The H7 4WD is not near perfect, but it's unbeatable value for money.
