New Car Sales Reach Monthly High Last July 2026


The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (CAMPI) and Truck Manufacturers Association, Inc. (TMA) reported total sales of 37,319 units for the month of July. Combined with sales estimates of other automotive brands, total Philippine industry sales reached 42,880—the highest monthly sales yet for the year.

“With this continuous growth, the industry is riding on a good momentum. We are hopeful that the positive trend will continue for the remainder of the year,” said CAMPI president Jose Maria Atienza.

Of the CAMPI-TMA member brands, Toyota leads July monthly sales at 17,797 units. It is followed by Mitsubishi with 6,271 units Suzuki at 1,689 units, Honda at 1,256 units, and Ford with 1,152.

In terms of monthly gainers, brands such as Foton (+36.1%), JMC (+43.2%), Hyundai (+68.2%), Jaguar Land Rover (+200%), and Mercedes-Benz (+194.7%) gained the most, while Tesla (-72.5%), Chery (-25.5%), and GWM got hit the most (-51.8%).

Meanwhile, when compared to July 2025 figures, brands such as Tesla (+632.4%), Jetour (+186.8%), and MG (+25.4%) took advantage of the shift towards electrified vehicles. This is compared to brands such as Ford (-51.4%), Mazda (-42%), Isuzu (-37.4%), Kia (-34.5%), and Nissan (-44.7%) that got hit the most.

And while demand for Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles remains strong, July’s 2026 growth mainly came from the increased supply of Electrified Vehicles (xEVs), reflecting more than doubled sales versus last year.

“The shift to electrification continues to accelerate, with xEV’s accounting for 29.5 percent of the market last July. This is up 18 points from same month last year,” Atienza added.

Among CAMPI-TMA members, total xEV sales reached 7,086 units—up 3.6 percent from June 2026. Hybrids or HEVs lead with 2,964 units sold, followed by PHEVs with 2,520 units, and BEVs at 1,602 units.

In the Passenger Car and Commercial Vehicle split, the market still prefers Commercial Vehicles accounting for 79.64 percent of all new vehicles sold last month (29,719 units). 

Bulk of Commercial Vehicles sold last July remain the so-called Light Duty Commercial Vehicle (Category II) which comprises of pickup trucks and SUVs (22,744 units), followed by Asian Utility Vehicles and MPVs (Category I) with 6,231 units sold.

Passenger Cars accounted for just 20.36 percent (7,600 units).

  2. I didn't see much improvement for Tesla. It seems the market wants to try out HEVs first before fully committing to electric.
