BREAKING NEWS: Toyota Motor PH President Set To Get New Role

Toyota Motor Philippines president Masando Hashimoto is set to become the new Chief Executive Officer of the Asian Region for Toyota Motor Asia starting January 1, 2027. He will take over from Masahiko Maeda who will become a Senior Fellow at Toyota Motor Corporation.

As the CEO of the Asian Region for Toyota Motor Asia, Hashimoto will oversee the carmaker’s operations, business planning, and growth strategies across key Asian markets. This includes coordination with regional manufacturing and sales networks to speed up decision-making and to better align products with local consumer needs. He will also lead the transition of regional operations toward carbon neutrality, electrified vehicles, and local mobility solutions.

Toyota Motor Philippines has yet to announce who will succeed Hashimoto. Hashimoto has been president and CEO of Toyota Motor Philippines since 2024. Before then, he served as Toyota Motor Philippines’ Senior Vice President for Marketing for a year.

Hashimoto’s appointment is part of a broader organizational changes at Toyota Motor Corporation which includes Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda taking on an additional role as the Chief Officer of a newly-established Toyota Philosophy and Education Group.

Realizing that “monozukuri” is also about developing people, Toyota recognizes that people development must become a key management priority. To that end, Toyoda will personally engage in education to pass on the Toyota philosophy, skills, and conduct.

Toyota will also establish a new Toyota Robotics Group which aims to position robotics as a key pillar of its future business. The new group will be headed by Takefumi Shiga. Shiga will continue to be the carmaker’s Operating Officer and Chief Production Officer.

The carmaker also integrated its human resources and accounting to form the “Kanri” group. It has also opted to integrate some of public relations functions of Toyota, Lexus, and Gazoo Racing to better optimize product and technology comms across the brands, while splitting the India-Middle East-East Asia & Oceania Region into two—India & Middle East Region and East Asia & Oceania Region.
