Honda Civic Type R is Latest Car to be Given the LEGO Treatment

One of the most iconic cars in the current Honda lineup, the Civic Type R, has been transformed into a life-size Lego model in Australia.

The build used more than 320,000 Lego bricks and took over 1,300 hours with a team of 9 assembling the Civic Type R brick by brick.

During the build, the team was presented with some unique challenges, particularly because of the Civic Type R’s considerable amount of curved lines. A steel frame supports the structure of Lego bricks, all glued together, and is built completely by stock standard pieces.  The car ‘comes to life’ with the help of an iPad which turns on the headlights, DRLs, fog lights, hazard lights, brake, and reverse lights.

The Lego car was built from the ground up, layer by layer. The most challenging elements of the build were the window wipers due to their fragility, and the back spoiler which needed structure to allow it to float.

The build was done to celebrate Honda’s support of the upcoming Lego Masters show in Australia. It will be making appearances across the country there over the coming months.
