These are the Finalists for the 2020-2021 Japan Car of the Year


The Top 10 finalists for the Japan Car of the Year 2020-2021 has been revealed. Considered as Japan’s most prestigious car award, the following ten cars advanced to the final around after besting 33 eligible entries.

According to JCOTY organizers, the award “best represents Japan,” in that the selection committee is composed of up to 60 people—both from motoring and mainstream media. The eligible cars are those announced for sale in Japan from November 1 of the previous year to October 31 of the current year.

Aside from the main prize, JCOTY will also award four more category awards: Design Car of the Year, Technology Car of the Year, Performance Car of the Year, and Kei Car of the Year.

In order of nomination they are:
  • Subaru Levorg
  • Toyota Yaris / Yaris Cross / GR Yaris
  • Nissan Kicks
  • Honda Fit
  • Mazda MX-30
  • Audi e-tron Sportback
  • BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe
  • BMW Alpina B3
  • Land Rover Defender
  • Peugeot 208 / e-2008
The Top 10 finalists will be tested back-to-back at the Sodegaura Forest Raceway in Chiba Prefecture next week. The eventual winner will be announced on December 7.

    Excuse me but Chiba Prefecture is the correct one
